A Probabilistic Estimation of Transmission Congestion for Mitigating Wind Power Curtailments

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2023
The high penetration of renewable energy sources presents new challenges to power systems owing to the variability and uncertainty of renewable energy. When transmission congestion occurs, wind curtailment is required to ensure stability. Short-term wind power forecasting and transmission expansion are methods for managing the curtailment caused by ...

Anchorage‐independent and faster growth in clonal population from UV‐irradiated NER‐deficient cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
UV‐irradiated cells expressing a DDB2 mutant protein unable to interact with PCNA (DDB2PCNA‐) form clones able to grow without anchorage. Different experimental approaches reveal heterogeneity in cell cycle regulation and drug response within these clones, emphasizing the crucial role of the DDB2‐PCNA interaction in preventing cellular transformation ...

The cost of active network management schemes at distribution level [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The growth of wind generation in distribution networks is leading to the development of Active Network Management (ANM) strategies. ANM systems aim to increase the capacity of renewable and distributed generation (DG) that can connect to the network.

Component Outage Estimation based on Support Vector Machine

open access: yes, 2018
Predicting power system component outages in response to an imminent hurricane plays a major role in preevent planning and post-event recovery of the power system.

Maximising revenue for non-firm distributed wind generation with energy storage in an active management scheme [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The connection of high penetrations of renewable generation such as wind to distribution networks requires new active management techniques. Curtailing distributed generation during periods of network congestion allows for a higher penetration of ...

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

How to accommodate curtailed wind power: A comparative analysis between the US, Germany, India and China

open access: yesEnergy Strategy Reviews, 2020
Despite the rapid growth in wind power generation, China has suffered a serious curtailment in wind power in several areas, especially in Xinjiang, Gansu, and Inner Mongolia.

A Study of Uncertain Wind Power in Active-Reactive Optimal Power Flow [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Wind power fluctuates with time and it is reasonable to regard it as a random variable. Recently, an active-reactive optimal power flow (A-R-OPF) method in active distribution networks with wind stations has been developed to handle the problem of wind ...

Effectiveness of rTMS on Working Memory and Inhibitory Impairments in Patients With Post‐Stroke Executive Deficits

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Considerable efforts have been dedicated to developing effective treatments for post‐stroke executive impairment (PSEI), among which repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) has shown great potential. This study aimed to investigate the therapeutic effects of high‐frequency rTMS on working memory (WM) and response ...
