Wind power forecasting considering wind turbine condition
2015 IEEE Innovative Smart Grid Technologies - Asia (ISGT ASIA), 2015In recent years, rapid growth of the wind power all around the world highlights the requirement of developing accurate wind power forecasting method. Since the wind power generation mainly relies on wind speed and wind turbine condition, a novel wind power forecasting strategy considering wind turbine condition is proposed in this paper.

Fresh forecasts [wind power forecasting]
Power Engineer, 2005Wind power forecasting falls broadly into two headings: statistical or physical modelling. Statistical modelling makes no real attempt to model the physical processes that drive the wind, but relies on previous wind speed patterns over time to make a prediction.

Wind power forecasting for the Villonaco wind farm
Wind Engineering, 2020Wind energy is a non-programmable form of generation, hence, accurate and reliable wind energy prediction is of great importance for the efficient operation of wind farms. This article presents a study for the prediction of active power for the Villonaco Wind Farm (VWF), located in southern Ecuador at approximately 2700 m above sea level.

While considerable progress has been made in wind power forecasting in the last decade or so, in terms of better understanding of the processes involved and higher accuracy of the forecasts, there is still plenty of scope for improvement. Clearly forecasts for the wind power production of whole regions or supply areas are more accurate than forecasts ...

Comparisons of Different Wind Power Forecasting Systems
ASME 2010 10th Biennial Conference on Engineering Systems Design and Analysis, Volume 1, 2010Wind forecasting models are divided in two main categories, physical and statistical. The former are based on Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP). The statistical models, on the other hand, use on-line measurements. In this paper we use hybrid models, which combine elements of both types.

Wind speed and wind power forecasting models
Energy & EnvironmentSustainable energy resources have proved to be the best alternative in the wake of environmental degradation, depletion of ozone layer and ever-increasing demand for energy. Though wind energy is a promising resource, the non-linear nature and non-stationary characteristics of wind have remained a formidable challenge.

PROBABILISTIC WIND POWER FORECASTING USING A SINGLE FORECAST
International Journal of Energy and Statistics, 2013This paper develops a new approach for producing probabilistic wind power forecasts using a single forecast. The Singular Spectrum Analysis technique is used as the forecasting technique. Given the confidence interval calculated for the single forecast, a large number of random forecasts were generated through the Monte Carlo method.

Advances in Wind Power Forecasting
2019Wind is a force of nature and naturally changes speed and direction with time, so the amount of wind power generation from wind farms also varies. Rapid growth in wind power production has led to the integration of wind power into the power grid. Wind power forecasting enables wind farms to address the intermittency and predictability issues to a ...

Research on wind power forecasting in wind farms
2011 IEEE Power Engineering and Automation Conference, 2011Large-scale wind power synchronization will do harm to the power system safety, stable operation and electricity quality thus limiting the development scale of wind generation. Wind power forecast is one of the effective measures to solve these problems.

Research of Wind Speed and Wind Power Forecasting
Advanced Materials Research, 2011Wind power has entered a rapid progress stage. Due to the intermittency of wind energy and the non-linearity of power system, there exist many uncertain variables which should be considered in the wind power prediction. Accurate wind power forecastings are beneficial for wind plant operators, utility operators, and utility customers.
