Offshore wind power in the Mediterranean Sea using Blended Sea Winds

OCEANS 2015 - Genova, 2015
In this work, the offshore wind power of the Mediterranean Sea is presented in an annual and seasonal basis along with the corresponding offshore wind speed and wind direction climate. The assessment is based on surface wind fields obtained from the Blended Sea Winds product, provided by the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Wind energy at sea

Refocus, 2005
With the growing number of offshore wind projects proposed around the globe comes a new challenge - the safety of those who construct, operate and maintain the equipment at sea. Once commissioned, operations are, for the most part, supervised remotely from land-based facilities.

Sea state and wind speed

2020
Monitoring of sea state and sea surface wind is certainly of fundamental importance for studies on climatology, meteorology, weather forecast, and ocean circulation. However, it has a great relevance also in the framework of maritime surveillance, particularly for navigation safety.

Sea Surface Wind Speed Estimation

2021
One of the most useful applications of GNSS-R is the measurement of speed of sea surface wind, especially the tropical cyclone, Typhoon, or Hurricane. Precise measurement and prediction of these disastrous winds is very important to timely warning and thus to avoiding or reducing the loss of economy and life.
