Simulating wind-driven extreme sea levels: Sensitivity to wind speed and direction

open access: yesWeather and Climate Extremes, 2022
Extreme sea levels and coastal flooding can cause devastating socio-economic damages and even loss of lives. Robust and timely risk mitigation requires knowledge of recurrence frequencies, but such estimates are riddled with uncertainties, especially ...

Study on the Elimination Method of Wind Field Influence in Retrieving a Sea Surface Current Field

open access: yesSensors, 2022
An along-the-track interferometric synthetic aperture radar (ATI-SAR) system can estimate the radial velocity of a moving target on the ground and on a sea surface current.

Sea spray volume flux estimation using joint statistics of wind and waves

open access: yesOceanologia, 2022
This article provides estimates of the sea spray volume flux using joint statistics of wind and waves. This is achieved by combining the sea spray volume flux parameterization proposed by Xu et al.

Potential Early Risk Biomarkers for Reduced Forced Expiratory Volume in Children Post‐Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We sought to identify potential early risk biomarkers for lung disease in children post‐allogeneic HCT. Patients with pulmonary function tests 3 months post‐transplant and plasma samples between days 7 and 14 post‐HCT were included. Six of 27 subjects enrolled had reduced forced expiratory volume 1 (FEV1) z scores.

Impact of Wind‐Wave Coupling on Turbulence and Air‐Sea Fluxes: Insights From Direct Numerical Simulations

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters
Accurate prediction of air‐sea fluxes hinges on a deep understanding of wind‐wave interactions, yet feedback mechanisms involving surface waves and wind are not fully understood.

Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy for Pediatric, Adolescent, and Young Adult Patients With Osteosarcoma: Local Control Outcomes With Dosimetric Analysis

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background/Objectives Osteosarcoma is a radioresistant tumor that may benefit from stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) for locoregional control in metastatic/recurrent disease. We report institutional practice patterns, outcomes, toxicity, and failures in osteosarcoma patients treated with SBRT.

Prolonged Corrected QT Interval as an Early Electrocardiographic Marker of Cyclophosphamide‐Induced Cardiotoxicity in Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Patients

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Cyclophosphamide (CY) is associated with potentially fatal cardiotoxicity, yet no electrocardiographic indices have been established for early detection of CY‐induced cardiomyopathy. This study aimed to determine whether corrected QT interval (QTc) prolongation can predict early onset of CY‐related cardiac dysfunction in pediatric ...

Decadal changes of the Western Arabian sea ecosystem [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Historical data from oceanographic expeditions and remotely sensed data on outgoing longwave radiation, temperature, wind speed and ocean color in the western Arabian Sea (1950–2010) were used to investigate decadal trends in the physical and biochemical

Predicting Chronicity in Children and Adolescents With Newly Diagnosed Immune Thrombocytopenia at the Timepoint of Diagnosis Using Machine Learning‐Based Approaches

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives To identify predictors of chronic ITP (cITP) and to develop a model based on several machine learning (ML) methods to estimate the individual risk of chronicity at the timepoint of diagnosis. Methods We analyzed a longitudinal cohort of 944 children enrolled in the Intercontinental Cooperative immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) Study ...
