A new prediction method based on VMD-PRBF-ARMA-E model considering wind speed characteristic

Energy Conversion and Management, 2020
With the characteristics of randomness, fluctuation, nonlinearity and uncertainty, wind speed affects the stability of wind power system. In order to improve the safety and stability of wind power system, accurate and effective wind speed prediction is ...

Nonlinear Control of Variable Speed Wind Turbines without wind speed measurement

Proceedings of the 44th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 2006
A nonlinear approach, for variable speed wind turbines control, is presented by considering that there is no wind speed measurement. The control objective below rated wind speed is to maximize the extracted energy from the wind while reducing mechanical loads. The existing control techniques do not take into account the dynamical aspect of the wind and

Short-Term Wind Speed Interval Prediction Based on Ensemble GRU Model

IEEE Transactions on Sustainable Energy, 2020
Wind speed interval prediction is playing an increasingly important role in wind power production. The intermittent and fluctuant characteristics of wind power make high-quality prediction interval challenging.

A new short-term wind speed forecasting method based on fine-tuned LSTM neural network and optimal input sets

Energy Conversion and Management, 2020
In recent years, clean energies, such as wind power have been developed rapidly. Especially, wind power generation becomes a significant source of energy in some power grids. On the other hand, based on the uncertain and non-convex behavior of wind speed,

Short-term wind speed prediction model based on GA-ANN improved by VMD

Renewable Energy, 2020
Wind power, as a potential new energy generation technology, is gradually developing towards to the mainstream energy in the world. However, the inherent random volatility of wind brings severe challenges to the safe operation of the grid and the ...

Robust Wind Speed Estimation and Control of Variable Speed Wind Turbines

Asian Journal of Control, 2018
AbstractIn this work, a robust control scheme for variable speed wind turbine system that incorporates a doubly feed induction generator is described. The sliding mode controller is designed in order to track the optimum wind turbine speed value that produces the maximum power extraction for different wind speed values.

Wind Speed Forecasting in Wind Farm

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2014
Artificial neural network method was used to forecast the wind speed, and two wind speed forecasting models were built based on BP and RBF neural network methods. 24 hours continuous wind speed forecast was conducted for a single wind turbine in wind farm. The results show that the models built are reasonable and have high prediction accuracy.

Repeated wavelet transform based ARIMA model for very short-term wind speed forecasting

Renewable Energy, 2019
With increased integration of wind energy systems, an accurate wind speed forecasting technique is a must for the reliable and secure operation of the power network. Statistical methods such as Auto-Regressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) and hybrid

The effects of atmospheric stability with low wind speed and of air pollution on the accelerated transmission dynamics of COVID-19

, 2020
The goal of this study is to explain the relation among atmospheric stability/turbulence (considering wind speed), air pollution and the spread of COVID-19 to provide insights into environmental risk factors of specific regions.

Wind speed estimation based variable speed wind power generation

IECON '98. Proceedings of the 24th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (Cat. No.98CH36200), 2002
Significant variation of the resource kinetic energy, in the form of wind speed, results in a substantially reduced energy capture in a fixed speed wind turbine. In order to increase the wind energy capture in the turbine, variable speed generation (VSG) strategies have been proposed and implemented.
