On p292 of the May 1971 issue of Physics Bulletin a description is given of the wind tunnel recently opened by Specialized Mouldings which is referred to as Britain's first commercially operated wind tunnel. I should like to draw your attention to the wind tunnel which Redland has been operating since 1966 in the structural testing division of the ...

The solar wind has been used as a wind tunnel by Burlaga who, at the beginning of the 1990s, started to investigate anomalous fluctuations (Burlaga 1991a,c,b, 1995) as observed by measurements in the outer heliosphere by the Voyager spacecraft. In 1991, Marsch (1992), in a review on solar wind turbulence given at the Solar Wind Seven conference ...

The intention of wind-tunnel experiments (or in general physical modelling, including water-tank experiments) is to reproduce the characteristics of the atmospheric boundary layer on a small geometric scale, typically between 1/100th and 1/1000th of the real world. In the previous chapters, numerical models were grouped into different classes depending

This paper opens with a brief review of cryogenic wind tunnels and their use for high Reynolds number testing. Emphasis is on operational and aerodynamic testing experience in the NASA Langley 0.3-m Transonic Cryogenic Tunnel (TCT). Since we built the 0.3-m TCT in 1973, it has logged over 8000 hours of running at cryogenic temperatures.

The wind tunnel tests have been widely used for wind resistant design of bridges, because they can provide reliable information on the wind-induced forces and responses of bridges. In this chapter, types of wind tunnel tests for wind resistant design of bridges will be listed and their brief explanations will be given first.
