Identifying Aerodynamics of Delta-Wing Drones for Model-Based Navigation: A Comparative Study

open access: yesIEEE Access
This paper presents a comparative analysis of two methodologies for estimating unknown parameters in a Vehicle Dynamic Model (VDM)-based sensor fusion framework for small drones. Focusing on a delta-wing drone, we conduct open-air wind tunnel experiments

Rethinking Charge Transport and Recombination in Donor‐Diluted Organic Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Organic solar cells with 1–45% PM6 content in Y12 were studied to link structure and charge dynamics to performance. The conductivity follows a 3D percolation model without a sharp threshold. Donor dilution preserves the photogeneration yield, but limits the fill factor due to transport resistance losses.

A High‐Durability Triboelectric Nanogenerator for Broad‐Spectrum Wind Energy Harvesting

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces
Addressing the increasing global demand for sustainable energy, triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) have emerged as a promising solution for converting wind energy into electricity, but their practical use is limited by high cut‐in wind speeds and ...

Switchable Magnonic Crystals Based on Spin Crossover/CrSBr Heterostructures

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Multiscale modeling is employed to investigate the functionality of a light‐controlled, tunable magnonic crystal based on spin‐crossover Fe‐pz molecules integrated with a monolayer of CrSBr. Ab initio simulations confirm that the molecules remain functional on the CrSBr surface, while a semiclassical elastic model demonstrates that light‐induced ...

Large‐Scale Determination of Frontier Orbital Energies of Disordered Small‐Molecule Organic Semiconductors Using Exciplex Emission Spectra

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Accurately knowing the frontier orbital energies of the structurally disordered small‐molecule organic semiconductors that are used in optoelectronic devices such as organic light‐emitting diodes is required to rationally improve their performance. Here, we show that these energies can be deduced with a large accuracy from the peak energies of

Trailing Edge Noise Reduction by Passive and Active Flow Controls [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This paper presents the results on the use of porous metal foams (passive control) and dielectric barrier surface plasma actuations (active control) for the reduction of vortex shedding tonal noises from the nonflat plate type trailing edge serration in ...

Step‐Edge Functionalization by N‐Heterocyclic Carbenes Enhances Catalytic Activity in Electrochemical CO2 Reduction

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Atomically precise functionalization by N‐heterocyclic carbenes enhances the catalytic efficiency of macroscopically defined step edges toward electrochemical CO2${\rm CO}_2$ reduction. Sub‐molecular imaging reveals conformational differences between specific NHCs, which can be correlated with their catalytic performance. Photoelectron spectroscopy and

Modelling the aerodynamic response of a wind turbine blade passing in front of the tower

open access: yes, 2008
It is recognised that even upwind turbines feel the presence of the supporting tower in a pulse of the output known as 3p oscillations. Here we investigate the aerodynamics of this phenomenon by modelling the upwind perturbation of the free wind through ...

Wind-tunnel Experiments on Train Ferries

open access: yesJournal of Zosen Kiokai, 1952
On Aomori-Hakodate sea line wind is very strong in winter and train ferries often suffer from unfavourable effect of wind on their manoeuvering. To investigate the wind effect on ferries contributing to putting out plans for the reconstruction or for the new design of them, wind-tunnel experiments were carried out on some typical types of them ...

Super‐Resolution Ultrasound Based Cell Tracking With Polymeric Nanobubbles

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a super‐resolution ultrasound platform for tracking cells in vivo. Biocompatible polymeric nanobubbles are used as highly echogenic intracellular labels. Following the injection of cells and microbubbles, ultrasound localization microscopy (ULM) can dynamically match the microvascular architecture and individual cell trajectories ...
