A probe manipulator for wind tunnel experiments

Measurement Science and Technology, 1994
This paper describes the development of a seven-axis probe manipulator which is now in service in a wind tunnel facility at the National Taiwan Institute of Technology. The manipulator is composed of commercially available components, and is controlled by an IBM PC based servomotor controller that implements a robust control algorithm. A precision, non-

Wind tunnel experiments on dune sands

Earth Surface Processes and Landforms, 1981
AbstractThe effect of the dry bulk density, time and the presence of roughness elements at the surface on the wind erodibility of a dry dune sand (D50 = 230–250 μm) were evaluated in a laboratory study. There is no significant correlation between the dry bulk density of the dune sand and the corresponding deflation threshold.

Wind Tunnel Experiments with Rotating Disks

2016
Investigating convective heat transfer from a rotating disk subjected to streams of air requires placing a heated disk apparatus in the test section of a wind tunnel. This approach was employed for the first time by Dennis et al. [1] in 1970. Although this general experimental approach is fairly straightforward, the performance of accurate measurements

EXPERIMENTS WITH A SUPERSONIC TUBE WIND-TUNNEL

1970
Abstract : An experimental study was performed of the unsteady processes in the starting period of a supersonic Ludwieg tube, a device which operates like an intermittent supersonic wind tunnel. A quick opening diaphragm located downstream of the nozzle initiates the flow. Pressure and density measurements are made in a variety of ways in Mach number 1.

Wind tunnel experiments on a flapping drone

2011
The motivation for this paper is to obtain a better understanding of the unsteady aerodynamic phenomena involved in flapping wing flight. The work is mainly experimental but also makes use of numerical results obtained from a vortex lattice approach. The flapping of 3D wings produces vortical structures which differ from those produced in 2D flow.
