Experimental Investigation of the Flow, Noise, and Vibration Effect on the Construction and Design of Low-Speed Wind Tunnel Structure

open access: yesMachines, 2023
A wind tunnel is needed for a lot of research and model testing in the field of engineering design. Commercial wind tunnels are large and expensive, making them unsuitable for small-scale aerodynamic model testing.

Wind Tunnel Experiments to Study Chaparral Crown Fires [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Visualized Experiments, 2017
The present protocol presents a laboratory technique designed to study chaparral crown fire ignition and spread. Experiments were conducted in a low velocity fire wind tunnel where two distinct layers of fuel were constructed to represent surface and crown fuels in chaparral. Chamise, a common chaparral shrub, comprised the live crown layer.

Regression analysis to evaluate herbicide drift and injury in Roundup Ready cotton in wind tunnel

open access: yesRevista Ciência Agronômica, 2021
The aim was: (i) to propose a regression model for the association between injury in Roundup Ready (RR) cotton plants and drift of auxins, isolated or associated with glyphosate; (ii) to evaluate the effect of adding glyphosate to dicamba and 2,4-D ...

Wind tunnel experiments: saltation is necessary for wind-packing [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Glaciology, 2017
ABSTRACTWind-packed snow in the form of slabs or crusts is an important part of alpine and polar snow covers. Yet, the formation process of such layers is poorly understood. For example, it remains unclear whether drifting snow is necessary for wind-packing or not.

SSX MHD Plasma Wind Tunnel [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
A new turbulent plasma source at the Swarthmore Spheromak Experiment (SSX) facility is described. The MHD wind tunnel configuration employs a magnetized plasma gun to inject high-beta plasma into a large, well-instrumented, vacuum drift region.

A wind tunnel investigation of the unsteady aerodynamic characteristics of bionic flapping wings with three-dimensional complex motion

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2023
The bionic flapping wing aircraft realizes flight by imitating the structure and flapping mode of birds. In this paper, a three-dimensional composite motion aerodynamic analysis model of a bionic flapping wing is established.

Parametric CFD study of an air curtain for smoke confinement [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The CFD simulation of an air curtain for smoke confinement in case of fire is conducted by using Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS 6.0.1). It is a working progress of preliminary simulation for preparation of small scale experiment.
