Multi‐Scale Interface Engineering of MXenes for Multifunctional Sensory Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
MXenes, as two‐dimensional transition metal carbides and nitrides, demonstrate remarkable capabilities for multifunctional sensing applications. This review systematically examines multi‐scale interface engineering approaches that enhance sensing performance, enable diverse detection functionalities, and improve system‐level compatibility in MXene ...

Free-flight responses of Drosophila melanogaster to attractive odors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Many motile organisms localize the source of attractive odorants by following plumes upwind. In the case of D. melanogaster, little is known of how individuals alter their flight trajectories after encountering and losing a plume of an attractive odorant.

Investigation of Halogen Substitution Effects in π‐Conjugated Organic Ligands of Chiral Hybrid Perovskites on Their Chiroptical Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The role of novel thiophene‐based ligands with halogen substitutions in enhancing the chiroptical and optoelectronic properties of 2D chiral HOIPs has been investigated. By tailoring ligand design, enhanced CD and CPL properties are achieved, with improved CPL discrimination in photodetectors.

Development of wind tunnel techniques for the solution of problems in planetary Aeolian processes [PDF]

open access: yes
Kutzbach reports wind profiles over a series of roughness elements on a frozen lake and how the wind profile changed as the surface roughness was varied. The approach of the current study was to duplicate Kutzbach's roughness arrays in the wind tunnel at

Achieving High ON State Current through Ferroelectric Polarization‐Dependent Interfacial Resistance Switching in Undoped Orthorhombic HfO2 Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Ferroelectric tunnel junction devices based on epitaxial undoped ferroelectric HfO2 films demonstrate stable switching endurance of over 106 switching cycles, low write voltages of ±3 V, 16 measured resistance states, and neuromorphic capability.

Laser velocimetry in the low-speed wind tunnels at Ames Research Center [PDF]

open access: yes
The historical development of laser velocimetry and its application to low-speed (less than 100 m/sec) aerodynamic flows in the subsonic wind tunnels at Ames Research Center is reviewed.

Kinetic Regimes of Hydrogen Absorption in Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Knowledge of the hydrogen incorporation mechanisms in thin layers in relation to the amount absorbed is essential to design coatings and devices compatible with hydrogen‐based technologies. A combination of simultaneous in situ methods gives detailed insight into the hydrogenation of a prototypical hydrogen absorber layer in a time‐dependent manner ...

Influence of Turbulence Model for Wind Turbine Simulation in Low Reynolds Number

open access: yesInternational Journal of Rotating Machinery, 2016
In designing a wind turbine, the validation of the mathematical model’s result is normally carried out by comparison with wind tunnel experiment data. However, the Reynolds number of the wind tunnel experiment is low, and the flow does not match fully ...

Small linear wind tunnel saltation experiments: Some experiences [PDF]

open access: yes
Since the wind tunnels proposed to be used for the Space Station Planetology Experiments are of a rather limited size, some experience and techniques used for saltation experiments in a small linear wind tunnel may be of interest.
