Hypersonic Wind Tunnel Testing
1992In general, there are four primary reasons for wind tunnel testing: 1. understanding aerodynamic flow (research) 2. development of a database 3. parametric configuration studies and 4.

Design Assisted By Wind Tunnel Testing
IABSE Reports, 2010<p>According to principle of the “design assisted by testing”, contemplated by the Eurocode, the combination of tests and calculations is increasingly used. The motivation of this increasing interest-demand are various: from the sophisticated architectural shapes to the absence of corresponding reliable fluid-dynamics models, from the increasing ...

Abstract : Extensive parafoil wind tunnel tests were carried out. Parafoil model sizes ranged from .09 sq ft to 147 sq ft and parafoil aspect ratios ranged from .5 to 3.0. The wind tunnel test velocities ranged from approximately 20 ft per second to over 60 ft per second. The aerodynamic stability coefficients were measured.

Development and Wind Tunnel Test of Variable Camber Morphing Wing
, 2014This paper describes the development and the wind tunnel test of a variable geometry morphing airfoil using corrugated structures. Proof-of-concept study of a morphing wing with flexible seamless flap-like structure is performed by the finite element ...

Correlation Tests in a Climatic Wind-Tunnel
SAE Technical Paper Series, 1975The report illustrates the first steps of full-scale aerodynamic correlation tests in the Volvo Climatic Wind-Tunnel and the knowledge achieved, applied to every day testing. The scale model testing reported is a summary of the efforts involved trying to convert the climatic tunnel to an acceptable aerodynamic test facility. A short introduction of non-

Computational Fluid Dynamics as a Support to Counter-Rotating Open-Rotor Wind-Tunnel Test Analysis
, 2014The rising price of oil since the early 21st century produced a regain of interest in the counter-rotating open rotor, seen as an economic propulsive device for future transport aircraft.

Acoustic Testing in Transonic Wind Tunnels [PDF]
The historical reason for conducting noise measurement in transonic wind tunnels was to attempt an explanation for differences in aerodynamic data caused by boundary layer transition. More recently noise measurement at transonic speed has become useful in its own right.

Low-speed Dynamic Wind Tunnel Test Analysis of a Generic 53° Swept UCAV Configuration
, 2014Several static and dynamic forced-motion wind tunnel tests have been conducted on a generic unmanned combat air vehicle (UCAV) configuration with a 53° swept leading edge. These tests are part of an international research effort to assess and advance the

Wind Tunnels: Design Considerations in Wind Tunnel Testing of Cyclists
2019This chapter describes and summarizes design considerations required to develop an accurate and repeatable wind tunnel-based testing program to measure and optimize the aerodynamic drag of athletes, their apparel, and competition equipment. The chapter focuses on drag measurement techniques for the sport of road cycling with the intent that similar ...
