Volumetric scans of wind turbine wakes performed with three simultaneous wind LiDARs under different atmospheric stability regimes [PDF]
Aerodynamic optimization of wind farm layout is a crucial task to reduce wake effects on downstream wind turbines, thus to maximize wind power harvesting.

The effects of atmospheric and wake turbulence on wind turbines and wind turbine wakes
Wind tunnel studies using model wind turbines have been used to investigate the effects and characteristics of neutral and unstable atmospheric boundary layers on their operation and wake behaviour. Wind turbine arrays have also been arranged to observe the effect of wake interaction.

Computational Fluid Dynamics based Performance Optimisation of Vertical Axis Marine Current Turbines [PDF]
Rapid decrease in the fossil fuels in the last couple of decades has stirred the researchers to find alternative sources for the production of power. Wind and tidal energies are the two most promising alternatives to the fossil fuels.

Applying rotorcraft modelling technology to renewable energy research [PDF]
The perceived need to reduce mankind's impact on the global climate motivates towards a future society in which a significant proportion of its energy needs will be extracted from the winds and the tides of the planet.

Characterization of wind turbine wakes in a non-sheared turbulent flow [PDF]
The characteristics of the turbulence field in wakes produced by horizontal-axis wind turbines under a uniform inflow are studied. To this aim, LES simulations of a rotor subjected to different types of inflow are performed with OpenFOAM.

Wind Turbine Loads in the Near Wake
Abstract This work is analyzing the the engineering wake models Frandsen and TNO for small inter-turbine distances. Therefore, loads generated by actuator line LES (AL-LES) wind fields will be compared with the loads generated by the mentioned engineering models.

Numerical simulations of wind turbine wakes
In recent years, the size and capacity of wind farms have increased significantly, as larger turbines are being clustered together to take advantage of the available wind resource. In large-scale wind farms, the downstream wind turbines will inevitably operate within the wake of the upstream ones. This leads to an apparent reduction of the power output

In this master thesis the meandering of the wake of a three bladed horizontal axis model wind turbine has been studied. Measurements have been conducted by the use of four hot-wire probes located at multiple nearby points in the wake at X/D = 1, 3 and 5 downstream the model wind turbine.
