A Wind Tunnel Simulation Facility for On-Road Transients [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This paper outlines the creation of a facility for simulating on-road transients in a model scale, ¾ open jet, wind tunnel. Aerodynamic transients experienced on-road can be important in relation to a number of attributes including vehicle handling ...

Turbulence transport throughout the heliosphere [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We employ a turbulence transport model to compute distributions of turbulence throughout the heliosphere. The model determines the radial dependence of three (coupled) quantities that characterize interplanetary turbulence, the energy per unit mass, the ...

Extreme wind fluctuations: joint statistics, extreme turbulence, and impact on wind turbine loads [PDF]

open access: yesWind Energy Science, 2019
For measurements taken over a decade at the coastal Danish site Høvsøre, we find the variance associated with wind speed events from the offshore direction to exceed the prescribed extreme turbulence model (ETM) of the International Electrotechnical ...

A two-component transport model for solar wind fluctuations: Waves plus quasi-2D turbulence [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We present a model for the transport of solar wind fluctuations, based on the assumption that they can be well-represented using two distinct components: a quasi-2D turbulence piece and a wave-like piece.

Morphology, Transport, and Dynamics of Protein Adsorption in Open‐Cell Metal Foam

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Stainless steel (SS) open‐cell foams are shown to adsorb more protein per unit area than previously reported 316L SS and chromium oxide surfaces under static and flow conditions. An integrated approach combining 3D pore imaging, flow simulation, and protein adsorption experiments characterizes the foam’s performance.

Investigating whether the turbulence model from existing small wind turbine standards is valid for rooftop sites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The wind energy industry has developed considerably in recent years with regard to large scale wind turbines. However, the small wind turbines (SWTs) are still underdeveloped. The classification of SWTs comes under the standard IEC6140001-2. When a small

SPECTRUM OF THE INTERPLANETARY PLASMA TURBULENCE AT A DISTANCE FROM THE SUN GREATER THAN 1 AU [PDF]

open access: yesRadio Physics and Radio Astronomy, 2016
Purpose: Making analysis of variations of fast and slow solarwind parameters at distances from the Sun of about 1 AU and more. Design/methodology/approach: The method of Feynman pathintegrals is applied to calculate the temporal spectra and dispersion

Electrospun Wood‐Derived Biopolymers as Electrodes in Electrochemical Energy Storage Technologies

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Electrospinning transforms wood‐derived cellulose and lignin into architecturally defined, binder‐free carbon electrodes with tuneable porosity and functionality. This review shows how fibre design enables decoupled charge and mass transport, enhancing performance across battery systems, while identifying key challenges in spinnability, scalability ...

Load and response analysis of the IEA 22 MW monopile wind turbine considering marine atmospheric turbulence characteristics

open access: yesJournal of Ocean Engineering and Science
Since 2020, offshore wind turbine prototypes have experienced a substantial increase in size. At the same time, wind turbine design standards have not specified requirements for marine atmospheric turbulence.
