Corona wind velocity: parametric approach
1998 Annual Report Conference on Electrical Insulation and Dielectric Phenomena (Cat. No.98CH36257), 2002The paper presents briefly a laser Doppler Velocimetry that was designed and constructed to measure the corona wind velocity. It details the link of the discharge system geometrical parameters with the system variables such as, the applied voltage, the ion mobility, with the discharge medium characteristic such as permittivity and mass density, along ...

Wind velocities over pitched roofs
Journal of Wind Engineering and Industrial Aerodynamics, 1994Abstract This paper describes wind-tunnel investigations of the wind velocity field over the roof of a model of the Aylesbury experimental house, and gives examples of data. The range of velocity variation was found to be much smaller than that of local pressure coefficients, with no consistent correlation between C p and V/V ref

Characterization of ionic wind velocity
Journal of Electrostatics, 2005When a strong electric field is generated between a sharp object at high voltage and a grounded electrode in a gas medium, a corona is formed near the tip of the sharp object and, as a result, the gas medium is set in motion. The current study reports on the flow behavior of a single-stage ion wind generator with and without a nozzle attached.

The Measurement of Wind Velocity
Aeronautical journal (London, England : 1897), 1913The essential points of any anemometer are that it should be correctly calibrated and should read accurately over the whole range through which it is to be used, and that the calibration should not alter with time. The actual calibration of an anemometer by a direct comparison of its readings with its rate of movement through the air is a matter of ...

Laser Atmospheric Wind Velocity Measurements
1990The value and use of wind field measurements in environmental and Earth system science is discussed as an introduction. A brief overview or remote sensing techniques which can be used for wind field measurements is then included to provide a context for evaluating the particular characteristics of Doppler lidar which enhance wind measurement capability.
