Velocity of Wind [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 1881
THE following observations regarding the velocity of the wind in the south-west gale of the 21st and 22nd of November at Edinburgh may be of interest. The observations were made by me about nine o'clock on the morning of the 22nd, when the wind had somewhat moderated:—

On the ion-inertial range density power spectra in solar wind turbulence [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
A model-independent first-principle first-order investigation of the shape of turbulent density-power spectra in the ion-inertial range of the solar wind at 1 AU is presented.

Simulation Analysis of a Ventilation System in a Smart Broiler Chamber Based on Computational Fluid Dynamics

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2019
In this paper, a CFD (computational fluid dynamics) numerical calculation was employed to examine whether the ventilation system of the self-designed smart broiler house meets the requirements of cooling and ventilation for the welfare in poultry ...

Wind field and pressure characteristics on wind turbine surface under moving thunderstorms

open access: yesEnergy Reports, 2023
Based on computational fluid dynamics and large-eddy simulation technologies, a numerical simulation method of a moving thunderstorm field is established by considering the impinging jet model.

New field wind manipulation methodology reveals adaptive responses of steppe plants to increased and reduced wind speed

open access: yesPlant Methods, 2021
Background Wind strongly impacts plant growth, leaf traits, biomass allocation, and stem mechanical properties. However, whether there are common whole-plant wind responses among different plant species is still unclear. We tested this null hypothesis by

Modelling the orbital modulation of ultraviolet resonance lines in high-mass X-ray binaries [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
The stellar-wind structure in high-mass X-ray binaries (HMXBs) is investigated through modelling of their ultraviolet (UV) resonance lines. For the OB supergiants in two systems, Vela X-1 and 4U1700-37, high-resolution UV spectra are available; for Cyg X-

Correlation of solar wind velocity with different parameters during geomagnetic disturbances

open access: yesBibechana, 2018
We have studied the solar wind velocity and it’s relation with solar wind pressure, southward component of IMF-Bz, solar wind temperature (Tsw), solar wind density (Nsw) and geomagnetic indices during different geomagnetic disturbances. During disturbed

A New Dynamic Model to Predict Transient and Steady State PV Temperatures Taking into Account the Environmental Conditions

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
Photovoltaic (PV) cell and module temperature profiles, Tc and Tpv, respectively, developed under solar irradiance were predicted and measured both at transient and steady state conditions. The predicted and measured Tc or Tpv covered both a bare c-Si PV

The impact of accretion disk winds on the X-ray spectrum of AGN: Part 1 - XSCORT

open access: yes, 2007
(abridged) The accretion disk in AGN is expected to produce strong outflows, in particular a UV-line driven wind. Despite providing a good fit to the data, current spectral models of the X-ray spectrum of AGN observed through an accretion disk wind are ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.
