Large-eddy simulation of an atmospheric bore and associated gravity wave effects on wind farm performance in the southern Great Plains [PDF]
Gravity waves are a common occurrence in the atmosphere, with a variety of generation mechanisms. Their impact on wind farms has only recently gained attention, with most studies focused on wind farm-induced gravity waves.

Semi-empirical dissipation source functions for ocean waves: Part I, definition, calibration and validation [PDF]
New parameterizations for the spectra dissipation of wind-generated waves are proposed. The rates of dissipation have no predetermined spectral shapes and are functions of the wave spectrum and wind speed and direction, in a way consistent with ...

Solar wind fluctuations: waves and turbulence [PDF]
We present a brief review of observations and theory regarding the nature and radial evolution of MHD‐scale solar wind fluctuations. Emphasis is placed on the fact that the fluctuations consist of both waves and turbulence, and on their dual dynamical ...

A recent formula for the lift force on a low speed wing of circular arc cross-section [1] is adapted to the upward pressure force on the crests of a surface gravity wave propagating in the wind. In both cases, the main feature is the utilization of the air’s compressibility.

The solar wind emanates from the hot and tenuous solar corona. Earlier studies using 1.5 dimensional simulations show that Alfv\'{e}n waves generated in the photosphere play an important role in coronal heating through the process of non-linear mode ...

Validity of the Taylor Hypothesis for Linear Kinetic Waves in the Weakly Collisional Solar Wind [PDF]
The interpretation of single-point spacecraft measurements of solar wind turbulence is complicated by the fact that the measurements are made in a frame of reference in relative motion with respect to the turbulent plasma.

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

Urban heat island (UHI) in conjunction with heatwave (HW) leads to exacerbation of thermal stress in urban areas. Prior research on UHI and HW has predominantly concentrated on examining the thermal conditions at the surface and near-surface, with few ...
