Windage measurements in a rotor stator cavity with rotor mounted protrusions and bolts [PDF]
This paper reports an experimental investigation of the windage associated with enclosed rotor-stator systems with superposed throughflow, as commonly found in gas turbine engines.

Clustering analysis of the Sargassum transport process: application to beaching prediction in the Lesser Antilles [PDF]
The massive Sargassum algae beachings observed over the past decade are a new natural hazard currently impacting the island states of the Caribbean region (human health, environmental damages, and economic losses).

Modelling windage power loss from an enclosed spur gear [PDF]
Within a gearbox the majority of transmission losses can be attributed to bearing losses, meshing losses, or losses due to windage/churning. In this paper the commercial computational fluid dynamics (CFD) code Fluent 6.2.16 is applied in a two-dimensional study of windage power loss (WPL) from a single spur gear rotating in air.

Windage Losses of Rotating Cylinder
An empirical relationship for the windage losses of a rotating inner cylinder in a concentric stationary outer cylinder was obtained as a function of the rotaing speed of the inner cylinder and the gap width between both cylinders, through analysis of theories by Taylor, Davey and Batchelor, and experiments by Wendt, Taylor and Donnelly.

Development of an analytical model to predict the churning power losses of an orthogonal face gear
As one of the basic energy dissipations for one orthogonal face gear running partially submerged in an oil bath, there is no open literature concerned on the churning power losses of the face gear.

Model for Optimal Power Coefficient Tracking and Loss Reduction of the Wind Turbine Systems
This research aimed to introduce a comprehensive mathematical modeling approach based on the maximization of the power coefficient (Cp) to obtain the regulation in pitch angle and tip speed ratio (TSP), taking into account the detailed power losses at ...

Computational fluid dynamics modelling of an entire synchronous generator for improved thermal management [PDF]
This study is the first in a series dedicated to investigating the airflow and thermal management of electrical machines. Owing to the temperature dependent resistive losses in the machine's windings, any improvement in cooling provides a direct ...

Windage (drag) losses have been found to be a key design factor for high power density and high-speed electric motor development. Inducing axial flow between rotor and stator is a common method in cooling the rotor.
