On Windage Loss

open access: yesJournal of the Textile Machinary Society, 1951

ISO efficiency curves of a two-phase hybrid stepping motor [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Stepping motors are used in numerous applications because of their low manufacturing cost and simple speed control. It is well known that their energetic efficiency is low but actual values are typically not available.

Design and Optimization of a High-Speed Switched Reluctance Motor

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
Currently, one of the most used motor types for high-speed applications is the permanent-magnet synchronous motor. However, this type of machine has high costs and rare earth elements are needed for its production.

Hydraulic Analysis of a Reversible Fluid Coupling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
This paper presents a hydraulic analysis of a fluid coupling which is designed to operate either in a forward or reverse mode when a set of turning vanes are respectively withdrawn or inserted into the flow between the driving and driven rotors.

Power loss analysis in altered tooth-sum spur gearing

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
The main cause of power loss or dissipation of heat in case of meshed gears is due to friction existing between gear tooth mesh and is a major concern in low rotational speed gears, whereas in case of high operating speed the power loss taking place due ...

Research on Windage Power Loss of High-speed Arc Tooth Cylindrical Gear

open access: yesJixie chuandong, 2021
For gears running at high speeds, windage power loss is one of the main factors for low transmission efficiency. Computational fluid dynamics(CFD) technology is used to establish the air flow field model around the arc tooth cylindrical gear. The digital

An experimental investigation of a self-vacuuming action of a gear pair for the purpose of reducing windage loss (Interior vacuum level, power losses, and temperature rise)

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2015
Windage loss may become more than 10% of all losses when large sized gearing runs fast. In order to reduce the windage loss, it needs to vacuum a gear box because it is proportional to the density of ambient air. The study proposes a helical gearing unit

Windage Power Losses of Ordinary Gears: Different CFD Approaches Aimed to the Reduction of the Computational Effort

open access: yesLubricants, 2014
Efficiency improvement is one of the main challenges in all fields of design. The reduction of power losses is becoming a great concern also in the design of power transmissions.
