Vacancy winds in cyclic deformation

Scripta Metallurgica, 1983
Abstract From these calculations it is shown that if a deformation induced vacancy flux should occur as hypothesized, it will result in a Zn concentration differrence between the center of a dislocation cell and the dislocation cell walls of at least 10 −3 atom fraction, or possibly more in cylically deformed CuZn alloy.

The Wind Speed Impact on Stress and Deformation of Composite Wind Turbine Blade

2022
Wind turbines are structures that transform wind energy into other types of energy. In the modern age, wind turbines are closely related to the production of electricity and are considered starters of the green industry. Designing this type of construction is a complex and demanding process.

The “Wind Surf” Deformity—Correcting Fixed Flexion Deformity and Hyperextension in Bilateral CAS TKA

The Journal of Knee Surgery, 2022
AbstractSevere knee arthritis can result in complex coronal and sagittal angular deformities. Windswept deformity is used to describe a varus deformity and contralateral valgus deformity. We recognized a new sagittal pattern at the time of computer-assisted surgery (CAS) in total knee arthroplasty (TKA) in which one knee has a fixed flexion deformity ...

Transformer winding diagnostics using deformation coefficient

2008 IEEE Power and Energy Society General Meeting - Conversion and Delivery of Electrical Energy in the 21st Century, 2008
This work presents the use of terminal capacitance measurements to detect deformations in transformer windings. The lumped parameter representation of windings is considered. The deformation coefficient (DC) derived from the measurements is used to detect winding deformations. The extent and location of deformation can also be determined by this method.

Prevention of rotor-winding deformation on turbogenerators

Electrical Engineering, 1944
During recent years there have occurred several cases of failures on turbogenerators which were found to be due to a singular type of deformation of the rotor windings. It is recognized that the deformation of rotor windings is due to forces set up in the windings by the interaction of centrifugal force and temperature change.1 The purpose of this ...

Wind deformation of the Subaru primary mirror

SPIE Proceedings, 2003
I will report on the deformation of the Subaru Telescope primary mirror surface due to wind pressure. The 261 actuators, controlled precisely down to 0.01 N level, together with 3 fixed points maintains the optical figure of the primary mirror. The extra-force exerted by wind pressure, however, pushes the actuator pistons to cause their displacement ...

On-line detection of winding deformation

Conference Record of the 2004 IEEE International Symposium on Electrical Insulation, 2005
The problem of on-line control of deformations of transformers windings is stated and a method for their diagnostics is offered. The analysis of the reasons for failures due to this problem is presented. An opportunity for simultaneous diagnostics of many other parameters is also shown.

Transformer Winding Deformation Diagnosis Based on Signal Distance

2019 22nd International Conference on Electrical Machines and Systems (ICEMS), 2019
Aiming at the problem that the current frequency response method still lacks an effective tool for consistent quantitative evaluation in data analysis, and the correlation coefficient method cannot judge the deformation of the transformer winding when the measured frequency response curve is the same as the reference frequency response curve with the ...

Deformation simulation and analysis of power transformer windings

2016 IEEE PES Asia-Pacific Power and Energy Engineering Conference (APPEEC), 2016
Power transformers are critical in power systems and the stable operation of power transformers is a vital guarantee of system stability. However, with the development of capacity and voltage level, the external short-circuit fault threats the stable and secure operation of power transformers more seriously than ever before.

Frontogenesis by Horizontal Wind Deformation Fields

Journal of the Atmospheric Sciences, 1966
Abstract Bergeron first suggested that atmospheric frontogenesis is caused by horizontal wind deformation fields acting on pre-existing horizontal temperature gradients. A three-dimensional time-dependent mathematical model of the atmosphere which incorporates this process through the initial conditions and boundary conditions is formulated ...
