CDK11 inhibition induces cytoplasmic p21WAF1 splice variant by p53 stabilisation and SF3B1 inactivation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CDK11 inhibition stabilises the tumour suppressor p53 and triggers the production of an alternative p21WAF1 splice variant p21L, through the inactivation of the spliceosomal protein SF3B1. Unlike the canonical p21WAF1 protein, p21L is localised in the cytoplasm and has reduced cell cycle‐blocking activity.

Reservoir computing with a single time-delay autonomous Boolean node [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical review. E, Statistical, nonlinear, and soft matter physics, 2014
We demonstrate reservoir computing with a physical system using a single autonomous Boolean logic element with time-delay feedback. The system generates a chaotic transient with a window of consistency lasting between 30 and 300 ns, which we show is ...

Improving PARP inhibitor efficacy in bladder cancer without genetic BRCAness by combination with PLX51107

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Clinical trials on PARP inhibitors in urothelial carcinoma (UC) showed limited efficacy and a lack of predictive biomarkers. We propose SLFN5, SLFN11, and OAS1 as UC‐specific response predictors. We suggest Talazoparib as the better PARP inhibitor for UC than Olaparib.

FALI: Time Memory Information of Windows Computer Systems [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Intelligent Computing Research, 2013
In today digital investigation, forensic application level information (FALI) has become an important part of digital forensic research. In this research, information stored on Windows computer systems was analysed. The user input gathered from the volatile memory (RAM) of Windows applications has been described as the most important aspect of digital ...

Cytoplasmic p21 promotes stemness of colon cancer cells via activation of the NFκB pathway

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytoplasmic p21 promotes colorectal cancer stem cell (CSC) features by destabilizing the NFκB–IκB complex, activating NFκB signaling, and upregulating BCL‐xL and COX2. In contrast to nuclear p21, cytoplasmic p21 enhances spheroid formation and stemness transcription factor CD133.

Sliding window higher-order cumulants for detection of eye blink artifact from short segments of single-channel EEG [PDF]

open access: yesPeerJ Computer Science
Background The prevalence of single-channel electroencephalogram (EEG) is increasing. However, eye blink artifacts can contaminate EEG signals, potentially impacting their clinical utility.

Private Decayed Sum Estimation under Continual Observation

open access: yes, 2012
In monitoring applications, recent data is more important than distant data. How does this affect privacy of data analysis? We study a general class of data analyses - computing predicate sums - with privacy.

Optimized Kaiser–Bessel Window Functions for Computed Tomography [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Image Processing, 2015
Kaiser-Bessel window functions are frequently used to discretize tomographic problems because they have two desirable properties: 1) their short support leads to a low computational cost and 2) their rotational symmetry makes their imaging transform independent of the direction.
