CYP1A2 Genotype and the Ergogenic Effect of Acute Caffeine Intake on Muscular Strength and Endurance Performance in Trained Individuals

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Medicine &Science in Sports, Volume 36, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT This study examined whether CYP1A2 (rs762551) genotype modulates the acute ergogenic effects of caffeine on muscular strength and endurance performance in resistance‐trained men and women. Ninety‐four resistance‐trained participants (47 females, 47 males; 39 AA, 44 AC, 11 CC) completed a randomized, triple‐blind, placebo‐controlled, crossover ...

Dietary Supplement Strategies During Conditioning Training in Athletes: A Network Meta‐Analysis of Peak and Mean Anaerobic Power, VO2max, and Endurance Performance

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 13, Issue 12, December 2025.
In this network meta‐analysis of 30 RCTs (n = 693), we compared six supplements during training on energy‐system outcomes, with certainty ranging from very low to moderate. Protein ranked highest for peak power and showed the most consistent benefit for endurance performance; β‐alanine, protein, and creatine tended to improve mean power, while creatine

PPARA Intron Polymorphism Associated with Power Performance in 30-s Anaerobic Wingate Test

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
To date, polymorphisms in several genes have been associated with a strength/power performance including alpha 3 actinin, ciliary neurotrophic factor, vitamin D receptor, or angiotensin I converting enzyme, underlining the importance of genetic component of the multifactorial strength/power-related phenotypes.

Mitigating End‐Stage Fatigue: Acute Inhaled Salmeterol Preserves Sprint Power in Simulated Cycling

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Medicine &Science in Sports, Volume 35, Issue 11, November 2025.
ABSTRACT This study tested whether a single 100 μg inhalation of salmeterol enhances 12‐s sprint performance in both fresh and fatigued states in elite road cyclists. In a randomized crossover design, 16 well‐trained, non‐asthmatic male cyclists completed 2 trials 1 week apart. Participants inhaled either 100 μg salmeterol or placebo 1h before testing.

Evaluation of the anaerobic capacity of the lower body of young elite wrestlers [PDF]

open access: yesفصلنامه ابن سینا
Background and aims: Anaerobic capacity is a key factor in the performance of wrestlers, particularly in their ability to produce energy under oxygen-deficient conditions. This study aimed to predict lower-body anaerobic capacity in elite young wrestlers

The Effect of Wearing a Lower Body Compression Garment on Anaerobic Exercise Performance in Division I NCAA Basketball Players

open access: yesSports, 2019
Lower body compression (LBC) has been shown as an effective recovery tool from basketball but it is unknown how it affects performance. The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of wearing a LBC garment on anaerobic exercise performance in ...

Impact of long‐haul airline travel on athletic performance and recovery: A critical review of the literature

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, Volume 110, Issue 11, Page 1584-1602, November 1, 2025.
Abstract Participation in many important sport events (e.g., World championships, Olympics) requires athletes to fly >4 h and to cross several time zones. This transmeridian travel results in a transient desynchronization of the body's circadian rhythms due to a disconnect between the timing of the endogenous circadian oscillator and the external ...

Anaerobic power as a key predictor of performance in elite kayaking

open access: yesHuman Movement
Purpose The balance of low- and high-intensity training, reflecting aerobic and anaerobic capacities, respectively, varies by sport and discipline. Yet their specific contributions in male flat-water kayaking remain poorly understood. This study aimed to
