Wire electrical discharge machining of ASP30 tool steel
Journal of Mechanical Science and Technology, 2016Wire electrical discharge machining is a non-traditional cutting process for machining of hard and high strength materials. This study analyzed the effects of the main input parameters of wire electrical discharge machining of ASP30 steel (high alloyed Powder metallurgical [PM] high speed steel) as the workpiece on the material removal rate and surface

Study of wire electrical discharge machined surface characteristics
Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 1991Abstract The main goals of wire electrical discharge machine (WEDM) manufacturers and users are to achieve a better stability and high productivity of the process, i.e., higher machining rate with desired accuracy and minimum surface damage. The complex and random nature of the erosion process in WEDM requires the application of deterministic as well

Wire-Electrical Discharge Machining of Low Conductive Materials
1997Electrical discharge machining (EDM) has its main application in tool and die making. The process is based on the erosion phenomenon of electrical gas discharges between two electrodes. Due to this EDM is not affected by mechanical material properties like hardness and strength but properties such as electrical and thermal conductivity, density ...

Advancements in Micro Wire-cut Electrical Discharge Machining
2017A WEDM process may be called as a Micro WEDM (MWEDM) process when it is used for manufacturing micro parts. The rest underlying theory is same as traditional WEDM. A micro part is machined with good dimensional accuracy and surface finish when the kerf (slot) width becomes considerably smaller compared to that obtainable in conventional WEDM.

Machining Characteristics of Polycrystalline Silicon by Wire Electrical Discharge Machining
Materials and Manufacturing Processes, 2011This study examines the use of wire electrical discharge machining (WEDM) in machining polycrystalline silicon with resistivity of 2–3 Ωcm. The effects of different WEDM parameters on cutting speed, machining groove width, and surface roughness are explored.

High-performance wire electrodes for wire electrical-discharge machining – a review
Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part B: Journal of Engineering Manufacture, 2012In a wire electrical-discharge machining process an electrically conductive workpiece is eroded ahead of a continuous moving wire by spark discharges, which are identical with those in conventional electrical-discharge machining. With wire electrical-discharge machining, convoluted shapes can be cut with a high degree of dimensional accuracy and good ...
