Supervised Machine Learning in Wire Cut Electric Discharge Machining (WEDM)

2020
Wire electrical discharge machining (WEDM) technology has grown tremendously since it was first introduced about 40 years back. In 1974, D. H. Dulebohn applied the optical-line follower system to automatically control the shape of the components to be machined by the WEDM process.

Abrasion Assisted Wire Electrical Discharge Machining

2018
The adoption of Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) technologies to mainstream manufacturing saw dramatic advances in the process starting in the 1980's. Wire Electrical Discharge Machining (WEDM) in particular achieved enhancements in cutting speed of over 800% between 1980 and 1992 due to improvements in generator and wire technology.
