The feasibility of monitoring trauma patients with a wireless, wearable Doppler ultrasound

open access: yesTransfusion, Volume 65, Issue S1, Page S123-S130, May 2025.
Abstract Background Early detection of reduced stroke volume (SV) or cardiac output (CO) may expedite resuscitative interventions during traumatic hemorrhage; corrected carotid artery flow time (ccFT) has been proposed as a surrogate for SV during blood volume loss.

EGF‐Induced Macropinocytosis Promotes NAV1‐Dependent Internalization of Occludin in Keratinocytes

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 39, Issue 8, 30 April 2025.
This graphical abstract illustrates how epidermal growth factor (EGF) stimulates macropinocytosis in keratinocytes, leading to the internalization of occludin, a key tight junction protein. NAV1 is identified as a critical mediator of this process, modulating macropinocytosis via the Rho family of GTPases.

Maternal Adiponectin Decreases Placenta Nutrient Transport in Mice

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 39, Issue 8, 30 April 2025.
The schematic illustrates the impact of adiponectin in placental function and fetal growth in obese pregnant mice. Adiponectin influences the placenta, by phosphorylation of mTOR at Ser2448 which alters its activity. This results in reduced nutrient influx (red arrows) to the fetus, ultimately contributing to fetal growth restriction.
