MIMO based wireless backhaul

International Congress on Ultra Modern Telecommunications and Control Systems, 2010
Wireless backhaul has been received much attention as an enabler of future broadband mobile communication systems because it can reduce deployment cost of pico-cells, an essential part of high capacity system. A high performance network in terms of high throughput, low average delay and low packet loss rate, is highly appreciated to sustain the ...

Design of a wireless backhaul network for microcells

WCNC. 1999 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference (Cat. No.99TH8466), 2003
The use of microcells is an attractive option for providing high data rate access for fixed and low mobility users. We propose and analyze a wireless backhaul network for connecting microcells to the wireline network. In the proposed network, several microcellular radio ports are connected to a so called hub through radio links.

RF transceiver for wireless backhaul system

2015 International Conference on Information and Communication Technology Convergence (ICTC), 2015
In this paper, RF transceiver for wireless backhaul system was designed and implemented. The requirement of RF transceiver was extracted with system link budget. And, the IF/RF modules composing the transceiver were also designed and fabricated. The implemented RF transceiver was verified with system loop-back test.

SDN wireless backhauling for Small Cells

2015 IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC), 2015
Small Cells are recognized as one of the key enablers to address the forecasted exponential traffic increase in future mobile networks. However, several major technical hurdles need to be overcome to fulfill the promise of Small Cells. In this paper we introduce a novel architecture that enables the application of Software Defined Networking (SDN ...

VoIP Aggregation in Wireless Backhaul Networks

2006 IEEE International Conference on Communications, 2006
The newly emerging wireless backhaul network has fundamental difficulties in supporting Voice over IP (VoIP) applications due to the MAC overheads introduced by huge amounts of small packets. Packet aggregation is a promising approach to mitigate these overheads.

Wireless backhaul for mobile edge computing

2016 IEEE NetSoft Conference and Workshops (NetSoft), 2016
The purpose of this demonstration is to show our flexible wireless backhaul network and how it seamlessly integrates with an open source cloud platform for managing edge computing servers. We will demonstrate how information is exchanged between the radio network and the edge server via a Unified Technology Interface. The use case will show the benefit

Performance of wireless backhaul in satellite communication system

2016 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference, 2016
This paper investigates the issues of a satellite gateway employs a random Slotted-ALOHA protocol. The gateway is considered as wireless backhaul, and acts as a blind amplify and forward (AF) relay, to relaying the signal between the source and destination nodes.

Broadband wireless service provisioning through a wireless mesh backhaul

2011 15th International Conference on Intelligence in Next Generation Networks, 2011
This paper describes results achieved within recently successfully completed EU projects CARMEN (CARrier grade MEsh Networks) and PANLABII (PAN European LABoratory for next generation networks and services). The main contribution of the CARMEN project is the design and prototype of a wireless mesh network that allows quality of service provisioning ...

The reliability and availability of wireless backhaul mesh networks

2008 IEEE International Symposium on Wireless Communication Systems, 2008
When planning the structure of a backhaul mesh network for public access, it is common to introduce redundant nodes in the mesh network. These are called redundant, because they do not increase the network capacity under normal operation, due to the shortest-path metric of the routing protocol.
