Backhaul For Low-Altitude UAVs in Urban Environments
Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) acting as access points in cellular networks require wireless backhauls to the core network. In this paper we employ stochastic geometry to carry out an analysis of the UAV backhaul performance that can be achieved with a ...

BD‐SBA for wireless backhauling application
A beam‐deflection short backfire antenna (BD‐SBA) is proposed. The BD‐SBA consists of an SBA and a deflection plate. The deflection plate is designed to change the phase of the reflected waves, hence deflecting the beam of the BD‐SBA. The beam deflection can realise different beam pointing within about 20°.

Using Wireless Network Coding to Replace a Wired With Wireless Backhaul [PDF]
Cellular networks are evolving towards dense deployment of small cells. This in turn demands flexible and efficient backhauling solutions. A viable solution that reuses the same spectrum is wireless backhaul where the Small Base Station (SBS) acts as a relay. In this paper we consider a reference system that uses wired backhaul and each Mobile Station (

ABSTRACT The integration of low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite constellations with commercial aircraft communication systems presents critical challenges in maintaining continuous connectivity during dynamic flight conditions. Current geostationary satellite systems suffer from high round‐trip latency (>$$ > $$ 500 ms) and inadequate coverage at high ...

Cost-Efficient Wireless Mobile Backhaul Topologies: An Analytical Study [PDF]
Wireless communication technologies such as microwave radios are used to provide high-speed mobile backhaul connectivity for radio access networks in cases in which wirebased alternatives, e.g. cable or fiber, are not readily available and cannot be deployed in an economic or timely manner. Current mobile backhauls are predominantly deployed in tree or

Tracking with GPS and accelerometers shows that great evening bats in subtropical China use two overwintering strategies: some remain in continuous hibernation, while others switch between torpor and activity as temperatures change. This behavioral flexibility, shaped by climate, underscores the importance of protecting diverse roosting habitats for ...
