Wireless downlink data channels [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 9th annual international conference on Mobile computing and networking, 2003
We consider wireless downlink data channels where the transmission power of each base station is time-shared between a dynamic number of active users as in CDMA/HDR systems. We derive analytical results relating user performance, in terms of blocking probability and data throughput, to cell size and traffic density.

Optimal Control Channel Selection for Wireless Channel Assignment [PDF]

open access: yesMathematical Problems in Engineering, 2012
In wireless channel assignment, control channels are often needed for coordination among wireless devices. In this paper, we propose an algorithm for finding the optimal set of control channels given a number of wireless devices and the ranges of channels these devices can access.

Does Long‐Term Lower Extremity Strength Training in Adults With Knee Osteoarthritis and Varus Alignment Reduce Knee Joint Loading During Gait?

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective We examined whether 18 months of strength training in individuals with knee varus alignment and medial tibiofemoral osteoarthritis (OA) reduced knee joint loads during walking compared to an attention control group. Methods This study was a secondary analysis of a randomized clinical trial that compared the effects of strength training to a ...

Fixed capacity and variable member grouping assignment of orthogonal variable spreading factor code tree for code division multiple access networks

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2014
Orthogonal variable spreading factor codes are used in the downlink to maintain the orthogonality between different channels and are used to handle new calls arriving in the system. A period of operation leads to fragmentation of vacant codes. This leads

Channel characteristics analysis of millimetre‐wave bands in Hyperloop scenarios based on ray‐tracing

open access: yesIET Microwaves, Antennas & Propagation, 2023
A reliable train‐to‐ground wireless communication system is proposed for the foundation of the safe operation of Hyperloop. The wireless channel characteristics of Hyperloops at millimetre‐wave (mmWave) bands are analysed based on the ray‐tracing method.

An All‐Optical Driven Bio‐Photovoltaic Interface for Active Control of Live Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bio‐photovoltaic Interface (BIO‐PV‐I) for live cell manipulation is presented. BIO‐PV‐I can be activated non‐invasively and remotely to control the spatial motility, adhesion, and morphology of cells adhering to it. BIO‐PV‐I uses a patterned light‐induced electric potential in iron‐doped lithium niobate crystals whose light‐driven and reversible nature,
