3D Anodic Alumina Nanoarchitectures: A Decade of Progress from Foundational Science to Functional Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 51, 11 September 2026.
Ordered three‐dimensional anodic aluminum oxide (3D‐AAO) nanoarchitectures with longitudinal and transverse pores enable architecture‐driven metamaterials. The review maps fabrication advances, including hybrid pulse anodization, and shows how 3D‐AAO templates tailor properties across magnetism, energy, catalysis, and sensing.

Nonresonant Magnetic Flux Control Enabling Low‐Loss Epsilon‐Near‐Zero Cavity Antennas

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, Volume 7, Issue 9, September 2026.
Can photonic doping be achieved without resonance? A passive metallic inclusion is shown to engineer effective permeability in epsilon‐near‐zero cavity antennas through magnetic‐flux exclusion, reproducing the response of resonant photonic dopants while reducing losses and providing a unified perspective on photonic doping.

The Evolution of Autonomous Systems for Planetary Cave Exploration: A Review

open access: yesJournal of Field Robotics, Volume 43, Issue 6, Page 4094-4115, September 2026.
ABSTRACT The exploration of Subsurface Access Points (SAPs), such as lava tubes on the Moon and Mars, has gained significant interest due to their potential as stable environments shielded from surface radiation and temperature extremes. These sites are considered high‐value targets for detecting water and signs of ancient life, and assessing their ...
