Complete regression of hepatocellular adenoma after withdrawal of oral contraceptives

A 28-year-old woman who complained of mild abdominal pain was found to have a large liver tumor. Angiography and needle biopsy established the diagnosis of hepatocellular adenoma. The tumor was felt to be unresectable because of its size, and no treatment was given other than withdrawal of oral contraceptives.

To compare bleeding profiles of a traditional 28-day oral contraceptive pill cycle with continuous administration.After a 28-day run-in cycle, women were randomized to either 28-day cycles (21 active pills and a pill-free week) or continuous use of the same 20 microg ethinyl estradiol/100 microg levonorgestrel formulation for 12 study cycles (336 days).

Postponement of withdrawal bleeding with a monophasic oral contraceptive containing desogestrel and ethinylestradiol

This study investigated the ability of a monophasic sub-50 oral contraceptive, containing desogestrel and ethinylestradiol, to postpone withdrawal bleeding in normal healthy women. In the analyzed group of 105 regular users of Marvelon, about 75% did not experience any vaginal bleeding during the 21 days of postponement.
