Abstract Volunteers have been involved in nature observations for decades through citizen science initiatives, providing large data sets as well as problem identification that allow a more complete understanding of many natural phenomena. Although communication is a core component in citizen science, the key factors that determine its effectiveness in ...

Methylation patterns of circulating cell-free DNA (cfDNA) contain rich information about recent cell death events in the body. Here, we present an approach for unbiased determination of the tissue origins of cfDNA, using a reference methylation atlas of ...

Progress Toward Efficient Wide‐Gap Cu(In,Ga)(S,Se)2 Thin‐Film Solar Cells
Wide‐gap Cu (In,Ga)(S,Se)2 thin‐film solar cells are studied in view of their performance, limitations, and opportunities for further optimization. Different sources of open circuit voltage limitations were discussed and weighted. Interface recombination appears the main recombination channel, which however can be influenced heavy alkali treatment ...

Transcendental Brauer elements via descent on elliptic surfaces [PDF]
Transcendental Brauer elements are notoriously difficult to compute. Work of Wittenberg, and later, Ieronymou, gives a method for computing 2-torsion transcendental classes on surfaces that have a genus 1 fibration with rational 2-torsion in the Jacobian

Substitutional Sulfur and Its Vibrational Fingerprints in Sb2Se3
The microscopic configurations of sulfur incorporated into the Sb2$_2$Se3$_3$ lattice are studied by combining infrared absorption spectroscopy with density functional theory. Substitutional SSe$_{\mathrm{Se}}$ defects are identified as the origin of four distinct sulfur‐related local vibrational modes at 249, 273, 283, and 312 cm−1$^{-1}$.

Correlation of the tumor escape phenotype with loss of PRELP expression in melanoma
Background Despite immunotherapies having revolutionized the treatment of advanced cutaneous melanoma, effective and durable responses were only reported in a few patients.

Hydroxide Mobility in Aqueous Systems: Combining Ab Initio Accuracy with Millisecond Timescales
A multiscale simulation strategy for hydroxide transport in aqueous potassium hydroxide is presented, integrating ab initio molecular dynamics with force field and Monte Carlo methods. The approach links femtosecond‐scale hydrogen‐bond dynamics to millisecond‐scale diffusion while maintaining near‐ab initio accuracy.

The Wittenberge subcamp was formed in August 1942 and lasted until February 1945. It was the first Neuengamme sub-camp established within an industrial facility. The Kurmärkische Zellwolle und Zellulose AG (KZZW) in Wittenberge an der Elbe—one of five firms in the Phrix Group—was established between 1938 and 1940 with significant state support.
