In this paper, we evaluate the performance of two Wireless Mesh Networks (WMNs) architectures considering throughput, delay, jitter and fairness index metrics. For simulations, we used ns-3, Distributed Coordination Function (DCF) and Optimized Link State Routing (OLSR).

Context management system for pervasive WMN
2011 IEEE International Conference on Pervasive Computing and Communications Workshops (PERCOM Workshops), 2011Conventional layered protocols are not capable to handle the vagaries of Wireless Mesh Networks (WMN) such as rapidly changing wireless channel quality, battery power and network topology. Most WMN cross-layer proposals to overcome these problems utilize only a limited set of parameters from the concerned layers rendering them incapable of network and ...

Multipath routing for mmWave WMN backhaul
2016 IEEE International Conference on Communications Workshops (ICC), 2016Static Wireless Mesh Networks (WMN) based on high capacity pencil-beam millimeter wave (mmWave) links offer an attractive solution for small cell backhauling in 5G networks. However, the delay targets in 5G are such that it is quite challenging to develop adequate link scheduling and routing mechanisms.

Wireless mesh networks are multi-hop networks. Therefore, a mechanism for finding a path between source and destination is needed. Static routing means that the path is set up manually, while dynamic routing requires a routing protocol which sets up routing tables. A router forwards packets to a next hop neighbor, which is chosen upon a routing metric.

Simulation is the crux of every network research as it imitates the real word scenarios. Several network simulators are utilized to analyze the performance of the network. Among them NS3 is currently trending network simulator and it is an open source library package developed using C++ and Python languages.

WMN-GA for Node Placement in WMN: Evaluation and Visualization Using HotSpot Ad-Hoc Method
2014 Eighth International Conference on Complex, Intelligent and Software Intensive Systems, 2014In this work, we evaluate the performance of WMN-GA system for node placement in WMNs. For evaluation, we consider Exponential and Weibull distributions of mesh clients and HotSpot initial placement method. The population size is considered 64 and the number of generation 200.
