The year in cardiology: arrhythmias and pacing. [PDF]
During this last year, there has been much progress with regard to anticoagulant and ablation therapy for atrial fibrillation (AF). Apart from recently issued European Society of Cardiology Guidelines for the management of patients with supraventricular ...

ABSTRACT Primary mitochondrial diseases (PMD) are caused by pathogenic variants in over 350 genes, 37 of which are located in mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA). While more than 100 mtDNA variants have confirmed disease associations, there are few reports of mtDNA‐related PMD in patients with African heritage, even in well‐studied populations.

Prenatal overgrowth and polydramnios: Would you think about Noonan syndrome?
We report on a child with prenatal findings of increased nuchal translucency, polydramnios, ascites, and overgrowth. At birth, she presented length >97° centile, minor facial anomalies, megalencephaly, and Wolff–Parkinson–White syndrome.

Multiform Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome
Summary A case of Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome is described. The patient exhibited atrial fibrillation (AF), sinus rhythm (SR) and attacks of supraventricular tachycardia (AT). Five types of QRS appeared. Type R1 was observed during AF, SR, and AT. It was normal in configuration and, during SR, was preceded by a normal PR interval. Type R2 had some

Anaesthetic Techniques for Cardiac Ablation—A Scoping Review Protocol
ABSTRACT Background Cardiac arrhythmias, particularly atrial fibrillation, are highly prevalent and represent a growing global health burden. Cardiac ablation is a commonly used procedure for the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias, often requiring anaesthesia to ensure patient safety and procedural success.

ABSTRACT Background Accessory pathways (APs) are muscular bundles directly connecting the atria and ventricles, bypassing the atrioventricular (AV) node‐His‐Purkinje system. Anterograde conduction along the AP results in ventricular preexcitation. A retrograde conducting AP allows ventriculo‐atrial (VA) conduction, creating a reentry circuit that ...

Tachycardiomyopathy Caused by a Pseudo-Ventricular Tachycardia
A 50-year-old man presented with general fatigue on exertion. Investigations revealed tachycardia-induced cardiomyopathy induced by Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome and atrial fibrillation. He was successfully treated with catheter ablation.
