Biodiversity of wood-decay fungi in Italy [PDF]
Abstract Current knowledge about Italian wood-decay fungi (Basidiomycota and Ascomycota) is surveyed: 1582 taxa belonging to Ascomycota (341) and Basidiomycota (1241) have been reported, including 23 species new to science of Basidiomycota described from Italy within the last five years.

Bacteria in decomposing wood and their interactions with wood-decay fungi [PDF]
The fungal community within dead wood has received considerable study, but far less attention has been paid to bacteria in the same habitat. Bacteria have long been known to inhabit decomposing wood, but much remains underexplored about their identity and ecology. Bacteria within the dead wood environment must interact with wood-decay fungi, but again,

PREPARATIONS BASED ON WOOD-DECAY FUNGI
There is a large variety of basidiomycetes in the world including xylotrophicfungi which pharmacological properties are scarcely studied. So they are a promising research object for pharmacology, biotechnology, medicine, and veterinary medicine.

Interference of wood decay, growth, and infection of Ganoderma boninense by ligninolytic fungi from herbaceous plants [PDF]
Basal stem rot (BSR) disease caused by Ganoderma boninense is the most destructive disease in oil palm plantations. Herbaceous plants such as arrowroot, cocoyam, and canna were reported to interfere with the Ganoderma disease of oil palm under mixed ...

Diversity of macrofungi in southeast Xizang 1. The wood-decay fungi
A survey on the diversity of wood-decay fungi in southeast Xizang was carried out from 2019 to 2023. Based on morphology, ecology, biogeography, and molecular biology, 558 species, belonging to three classes, 15 orders, 57 families, and 177 genera, were identified. One new species, Epithele miscanthi, is described.

Mixed communities of fungi and bacteria have been shown to be more efficient in degrading wood than fungi alone. Some standardised protocols for quantification of the wood decay ability of fungi have been developed (e.g., DIN V ENV 12038:2002 as the ...

Decay capabilities of basidiomycetes colonizing air-seasoning red oak and blackgum railroad ties
Fungi cultured from air-seasoning blackgum and red oak timbers were assessed for their ability to cause wood decay using two hardwoods and one soft wood species in an AWPA E10 soil block test.

Hallmarks of Basidiomycete Soft- and White-Rot in Wood-Decay -Omics Data of Two Armillaria Species
Wood-decaying Basidiomycetes are among the most efficient degraders of plant cell walls, making them key players in forest ecosystems, global carbon cycle, and in bio-based industries. Recent insights from -omics data revealed a high functional diversity
