Tree mortality agents in pristine Norway spruce forests in northern Fennoscandia

open access: yesSilva Fennica, 2008
We examined tree mortality agents in pristine old Norway spruce (Picea abies (L.) Karst.) forests in northern Finland and northwestern Russia. The data was collected on nine 40 m   400 m transects.

Non-destructive evaluation of moisture content in wood using ground-penetrating radar [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
This paper presents the results of a series of laboratory measurements, carried out to study how the ground-penetrating radar (GPR) signal is affected by moisture variation in wood material.

Comparative study of genome-wide plant biomass-degrading CAZymes in white rot, brown rot and soft rot fungi

open access: yesMycology, 2018
We have conducted a genome-level comparative study of basidiomycetes wood-rotting fungi (white, brown and soft rot) to understand the total plant biomass (lignin, cellulose, hemicellulose and pectin) -degrading abilities.

Degradation of the fluoroquinolone enrofloxacin by wood-rotting fungi [PDF]

open access: yesApplied and Environmental Microbiology, 1996
The veterinary fluoroquinolone enrofloxacin was degraded in vitro by four species of wood-rotting fungi growing on wetted wheat straw containing carbonyl-14C-labeled drug. A maximum 14CO2 production of 17% per week was observed with the brown rot fungus Gloeophyllum striatum, resulting in up to 53% after 8 weeks.

Evolution of substrate-specific gene expression and RNA editing in brown rot wood-decaying fungi. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Fungi that decay wood have characteristic associations with certain tree species, but the mechanistic bases for these associations are poorly understood.

Multi-gene phylogenetic analyses revealed two novel species and one new record of Trichobotrys (Pleosporales, Dictyosporiaceae) from China [PDF]

open access: yesMycoKeys
The rotting wood in freshwater is a unique eco-environment favoring various fungi. During our investigation of freshwater fungi on decaying wood, three hyphomycetes were collected from Jiangxi and Guangxi Provinces, China.

Bioremediation by Wood-Rotting fungi (III)

open access: yesJAPAN TAPPI JOURNAL, 1999
Microbial degradation of 2, 4, 8-trichlorodibenzofuran (2, 4, 8-TCDF) and dibenzofuran by three fungi (563, V1, V2) isolated by a screening method from natural world and by two wood-rotting fungi (Phanerochaete chrysosporium and Coriolus versicolor) were conducted. The five fungi degraded from 1.9% to 75.9% of 2, 4, 8-TCDF.

An Annotated Checklist of Wisconsin Handsome Fungus Beetles (Coleoptera: Endomychidae) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The first comprehensive survey of Wisconsin Endomychidae was initiated in 1998. Throughout Wisconsin sampling sites were selected based on habitat type and sampling history.
