A novel lecture experiment is arranged, that could be used as a demonstration of burning wood with chemical identification of the main products of the oxidation. Pieces of standard Chinese chopsticks were burned in pure oxygen. Ways of proving the obtained products are offered. The solid product shows strongly alkaline reaction (pH > 11).

Synthesis and Raman characterization of wood sawdust ash, and wood sawdust ash-derived graphene
Diamond and Related Materials, 2021Abstract In the present work, we report the synthesis, Raman characterization and comparison of the Raman spectra of the wood sawdust ash (WSA) and graphene produced from this WSA at different temperatures and burning times. For this purpose, the wood sawdust (WS) was burnt at different temperatures (300, 400 and 500 °C) at a constant time of 60 min,

Wood ash biomethane upgrading system: A case study
Renewable Energy, 2022Abstract In this work, a biomethane fuel was obtained from biogas, using a solid matrix of ashes obtained from a central heating plant fed by wood. Biomethane composition was studied in an experimental pilot plant that treats organic waste through dry anaerobic digestion. European limits were considered and respected for the biomethane injection into

Wood ash as a liming amendment
Communications in Soil Science and Plant Analysis, 1992Abstract Greenhouse and laboratory experiments were carried out to determine the effectiveness of a wood‐derived ash as a lime replacement. Treatments included wood ash, wood ash and lime admixtures, and lime amendments (ash amendment ranged from 0 to 20.17 and lime amendment from 0 to 4.06 g/kg soil on a dry weight basis). Treatments were compared for
