Plasma impregnation of wood with fire retardants

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 2012
Abstract The efficacy of chemical and plasma treatments with phosphate and boric compounds, and nitrogen as flame retardants on wood are compared in this study. The chemical treatment involved the conventional method of spraying the solution over the wood surface at atmospheric condition and chemical vapor deposition in a vacuum chamber.

Wood impregnation

2016
Wood impregnation is one of the oldest and the most frequently used techniques to protect the wood. This treatment offers a wide range of protection depending on used impregnants (preservatives). Impregnation can make the wood more resistant to decay, less flammable, more dimensionally stable, harder, stronger, more UV stable resistant and many more ...

Mercury Porosimetric Evaluation of the Impregnability of Wood

1985
Mercury porosimetric measurements for specimens of a given length can not be used to evaluate the treatability of wood. The reason is that the permeability for low permeable woods deviates from Darcy’s law with the specimen length. This paper presents a method of evaluation which respects this phenomenon in indicating not only pore size but also a ...

Hygroscopicity of wood impregnated with linseed oil

Wood Science and Technology, 1980
The reduction in hygroscopicity as spruce wood is impregnated with linseed oil may be accounted for using a molecular exclusion model. On the basis of the model, each linseed oil molecule appears to displace 90 water molecules and occupy 6 hydrogen bonding sites in the wood.
