Effects of Potassium Hydroxide Impregnation on Wood Pyrolysis

Energy & Fuels, 2009
The pyrolysis of a packed bed of fir wood particles, after impregnation with KOH, is investigated. For a heating temperature of 800 K, maximum variations in the pyrolysis characteristics are observed for KOH concentrations in wood below 1%. Decomposition temperatures become lower (35−70 K), and conversion times are rapidly more than halved.

IMPREGNATED WOOD VENEERS

Anti-Corrosion Methods and Materials, 1955
Chemical engineers have always been interested in non‐metallic materials because they are non‐corroding and extensive use has been made in the past of wood. Wood, however, suffers from many disadvantages, chief of which are its dimensional instability and its susceptibility to bacterial and insect attack.

Impregnation mode in wood plastic composite

Radiation Physics and Chemistry, 1996
Abstract Bulk monomer MMA was impregnated into simul, a fuel wood of Bangladesh, under vacuum and under normal temperature and pressure conditions in order to compare the mode of impregnation and its effect on various characteristic parameters of wood plastic composites.

Conveyor Belt Pressure Impregnation of Wood

2017
The Unitreat or Conveyor belt treatment process utilizes residual vacuum trapped in the wood to improve preservative distribution, once the treated commodity has been removed from the treatment plant (Vinden 2003). Unlike traditional industrial wood treatment technologies, (Bethel, Lowry and Rueping processes) limited quantities of preservative are ...

Wood construction and magnetic characteristics of impregnated type magnetic wood

Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials, 2002
The results of experiments involving the AC and DC magnetic characteristics of impregnated type magnetic wood were studied by taking into consideration the wood construction and fiber direction. The experimental results show that the sufficient amount of impregnated magnetic fluid varies depending on the fiber direction and length, and the grain face ...

X-ray initiated polymerization of wood impregnants

Radiation Physics and Chemistry, 2009
Abstract X-rays, derived from a high energy, high-current electron beam (EB), initiated in-situ polymerization of a unique class of monomers that were found to penetrate the cell walls of wood. X-rays initiated an auto-catalytic acrylic polymerization and penetrated through thick pieces of wood.

Impregnating Compositions for Lamination of Wood Materials

Polymer Science, Series D, 2020
The technology for producing SP-250 modified melamine–formaldehyde resin is presented and its physicochemical characteristics are determined. Using SP-250 modified resin and several domestic technological additives instead of imported additives, formulations of impregnating compositions for laminating chipboards were developed.

Dimensionally stable and durable wood by lignin impregnation

International Journal of Biological Macromolecules
Cracking, warping, and decaying stemming from wood's poor dimensional stability and durability are the most annoying issues of natural wood. There is an urgent need to address these issues, of which, sustainable and green chemical treatments are favorably welcomed.
