Enhanced wood plastic composites

2013
In the study, two wood fibre types, bleached softwood kraft pulp (BSKP) and thermomechanical pulp (TMP) with fibre lengths of 2.28 and 1.40 mm, respectively, were melt processed with poly(lactic acid) (PLA) using a twin-screw extruder to fibre content of 30 wt-% and injection moulded.

Weathering of High-Density Polyethylene-Wood Plastic Composites

Journal of Wood Chemistry and Technology, 2013
Due to widespread use of wood-plastic composites, high density polyethylene-wood flour composites (HDPE/WF) were studied in order to determine their stability in different application conditions. UV degradation and periodic absorption/desorption of moisture cause damaging changes to material during WPCs exterior application so it is needed to ensure ...

Wood Plastic Composite Foam Applications

2010
Wood fiber/plastic composites (WPCs) utilize fibers as reinforcing filler in the polymer matrix and are known to be advantageous over the neat polymers in terms of the materials cost and mechanical properties such as stiffness and strength. Wood fiber reinforced polymer composites are microcellular processed to create a new class of materials with ...
