Efficacy of Pongamia pinnata seed oil as a fumigant in reducing surface infestation by sapstain and mould fungi in bamboo

open access: yesAdvances in Bamboo Science
Sap stain fungi causes discolouration in bamboo, which reduces the aesthetic value of bambooproducts and renders them unfit for any specific use in which appearance is a crucial factor in determining its value besides its durability.

The effect of increasing lifespan and recycling rate on carbon storage in wood products from theoretical model to application for the European wood sector

open access: yesMitigation and Adaptation Strategies for Global Change, 2016
The use of wood products is often promoted as a climate change mitigation option to reduce atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations. In previous literature, we identified longevity and recycling rate as two determining factors that influence the carbon ...

Microstructure Evolution of a VMnFeCoNi High‐Entropy Alloy After Synthesis, Swaging, and Annealing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The synthesis and processing (rotary swaging and annealing) of the novel VMnFeCoNi alloy is investigated, alongside the estimation of the grain size effect on hardness. Analysis of a wide grain size range of recrystallized microstructures (12–210 µm) reveals a low annealing twin density.

Combinatorial Synthesis of Next Generation Water‐Soluble Quaternized N‐Halamine Oligomers with Long‐Lasting Antiviral Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A combinatorial library of dual‐functional antiviral oligomers incorporating N‐halamine and quaternary ammonium functionalities is developed for long‐lasting antiviral activity. The lead materials exhibit rapid and durable antiviral activity against SARS‐CoV‐2 variants and influenza H1N1, with 4 to 5 log reduction in viral copies at 5 mg mL−1 ...
