Multifunctional Polyurethane Composites with Coffee Grounds and Wood Sawdust. [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials (Basel), 2022
Currently, the fundamental activity that will allow for the development of an economy with closed circulation is the management of food waste and production waste for the preparation of biocomposites. The use of waste materials of natural origin allows for the creation of innovative composites with improved physicochemical and functional properties ...

Breakage Strength of Wood Sawdust Pellets: Measurements and Modelling. [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials (Basel), 2021
Wood pellets are an important source of renewable energy. Their mechanical strength is a crucial property. In this study, the tensile strength of pellets made from oak, pine, and birch sawdust with moisture contents of 8% and 20% compacted at 60 and 120 MPa was determined in a diametral compression test.

Highly Efficient Uptake of TcO4 - by Imidazolium-Functionalized Wood Sawdust. [PDF]

open access: yesACS Omega, 2021
99Tc is a radioactive fission product, mainly in the form of TcO4 -, with good solubility and mobility in the environment. The development of effective and inexpensive materials to remove TcO4 - from nuclear industry wastewater or contaminated water is significant. Wood sawdust is a byproduct of the wood processing industry and is an abundant, low-cost,

Preparation of Polyurethane Adhesives from Crude and Purified Liquefied Wood Sawdust. [PDF]

open access: yesPolymers (Basel), 2021
Polyurethane (PU) adhesives were prepared with bio-polyols obtained via acid-catalyzed polyhydric alcohol liquefaction of wood sawdust and polymeric diphenylmethane diisocyanate (pMDI). Two polyols, i.e., crude and purified liquefied wood (CLW and PLW), were obtained from the liquefaction process with a high yield of 99.7%.

Investigating cotton dyeing using exotic wood waste sawdust

open access: yesAnnals of WULS, Forestry and Wood Technology, 2022
Investigating cotton dyeing using exotic wood sawdust. The study investigated the possibility of using extracts from various species of exotic wood, obtained from waste sawdust, for dyeing cotton fabrics. Material from Obeche, Iroko, Merbau, Apple tree, American walnut, Tulip tree, Cumaru and Rosewood were used for the tests.

Physicochemical Properties of Wood Sawdust: A Preliminary Study

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering, 2021
Abstract In this study, the physicochemical properties such as proximate, ultimate analysis and heating value of five wood species sawdust (WSD) samples have been determined. The Higher Heating Values (HHVs) of the samples were estimated as functions of fixed carbon (FC) and volatile matter (VM), and were also calculated from an ...
