The Dynamics of Reading Genre Fiction: Researching and Teaching Interpretive Practices

open access: yesReading Research Quarterly, Volume 61, Issue 2, April/May/June 2026.
Conceptual model positioning genre fiction as a site for studying how narrative form organizes reader interpretation, identifying four dynamics—iterability, narrative interest, serialization, and spectacle—to guide empirical research on reading processes.

Whole-Genome Resequencing Reveals Genetic Diversity and Wool Trait-Related Genes in Liangshan Semi-Fine-Wool Sheep

open access: yesAnimals
Understanding the genetic makeup of local sheep breeds is essential for their scientific conservation and sustainable utilization. The Liangshan semi-fine-wool sheep (LSS), a Chinese semi-fine-wool breed renowned for its soft wool, was analyzed using whole-genome sequencing data including 35 LSS, 84 sheep from other domestic breeds, and 20 Asiatic ...

Genotypic expression at different ages: II. Wool traits of sheep.

open access: yesJournal of Animal Science, 1999
Genetic parameters for wool traits for Columbia, Polypay, Rambouillet, and Targhee breeds of sheep were estimated with single- and multiple-trait analyses using REML with animal models. Traits considered were fleece grade, fleece weight, and staple length.

Environmental stress influences reproductive success in male spider mites

open access: yesEcological Entomology, Volume 51, Issue 2, Page 414-423, April 2026.
This experiment explores how male juvenile food stress impacts reproductive traits in the haplodiploid spider mite Tetranychus urticae. Males exposed to juvenile food stress had lower reproductive success and females mated to these males also suffered reduced fitness as they were not able to produce optimal offspring sex ratios. The negative effects of

A PLETHORA3/7 transcription factor shapes cucumber shoot architecture

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 250, Issue 1, Page 230-245, April 2026.
Summary PLETHORA transcription factors (PLTs) are master regulators of plant development. Loss of shoot meristematic PLTs leads to reduced phyllotactic regularity and robustness in Arabidopsis and increased inflorescence branching in tomato. Whether these factors have similar functions in other species is not known.

Non‐RASopathy Genetic Syndromes Identified as the Molecular Cause of Disease in Patients Previously Diagnosed With Noonan Syndrome

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, Volume 200, Issue 3, Page 661-672, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Noonan Syndrome (NS) is a clinically and genetically heterogeneous condition characterized by typical facial dysmorphisms, short stature, congenital heart defects, and developmental delays. While variants in genes such as PTPN11, SOS1, and RAF1 account for most genetically confirmed cases, diagnosis is challenging due to phenotypic overlap ...

Mechanism of Dietary Variation of Grazing Yaks on Tibetan Plateau: The Role of Seasonal Heterogeneity of Resources

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 3, March 2026.
Using DNA metabarcoding, we show that Tibetan yaks are highly selective foragers in the resource‐rich summer but switch to a diverse, generalist diet to survive the harsh winter. This flexible foraging strategy is driven by seasonal plant availability, providing strong support for optimal foraging theory and highlighting the critical need to protect ...
