MATHEMATICS THROUGH LANGUAGE AND LANGUAGE THROUGH MATHEMATICS: CONDENSATION TRANSCRIPTION AS A POINT OF SYMBIOSIS

open access: yesФізико-математична освіта
This paper explores the idea of condensation transcription—which is defined as the reduction of lengthy collections of lexical elements or mathematical descriptions into short forms—as the point where mathematics and language learning cross-influence ...

Analysis of Real-World Math Problems: Theoretical Model and Classroom Application

open access: yesВопросы образования, 2016
The Russian education standards stress the importance of real-life applications of mathematics. However, the performance standards do not provide a clear idea of how a math teacher should organize their syllabus to develop such skills in students.

THE IMPACT OF READING COMPREHENSION ON MATHEMATICS WORD PROBLEM SOLVING

open access: yesEducation and New Developments 2019, 2019
Word problem constitutes an important part of the mathematics curriculum of the elementary school. Different studies have argued that the understanding of the problem is the most difficult part for students, because of the lack of understanding of the ...

Mathematics symbol instruction and senior secondary students’ achievement in word problems: A quasi-experimental study

open access: yesPedagogical Research, 2023
An assessment of the possible effect of mathematics symbol instruction on achievement in word problems was the main thrust of the study. Two null hypotheses were tested in the study. The non-equivalent group pre-test-post-test quasi-experimental research

Theoretical and methodological basis of studying the topic «word problems of practical content» in the school course of mathematics

open access: yesScienceRise: Pedagogical Education, 2023
In modern schools, we often encounter the problem that students lose interest in learning. Tasks of practical content are designed to increase interest in school mathematics education.

The Effects of Schema-Based Instruction on Word-Problems in a Third-Grade Mathematics Classroom

open access: yesInternational Journal of Instruction, 2023
In this study we tested the effects of schema-based instruction (SBI) strategies on 3 rd grade students’ mathematics skills. We compared SBI to general strategy instruction (GSI) when teaching multi-step word problems to students in mixed-abilities ...

Large Depth‐of‐Field, Large Eyebox, and Wide Field‐of‐View Freeform‐Holographic Augmented Reality Near‐Eye Display

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study proposes an augmented reality (AR) near‐eye display system that simultaneously achieves a large depth‐of‐field (DOF) from 0.25 to 10 m, a wide 50° field‐of‐view (FOV), and a 10 mm × 10 mm viewing eyebox, while maintaining high display performance, good optical see‐through viewing capability, and a compact system form factor.

Quantum‐Inspired Fourier Transforms Based on Circuits

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An analog scheme of classical circuit for the quantum Fourier transform is proposed. The number of the basic computing components employed in the circuit design is consistent with the number of the quantum gate in the quantum circuit. The information is encoded using correlated electrical signals.
