Direct Consolidation of Copper–Graphene Composite by Rotary Swaging

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The applicability of the rotary swaging method for preparation of electroconductive copper–graphene composite by direct consolidation of powders is proven. The consolidated material features advantageous microstructure featuring fine grains and twins, with homogeneous distribution of graphene, primarily along the twin boundaries, which contribute to ...

Fluorinated Graphene‐Coated N95 Respirators for Enhanced Protection against Viral Accumulation and Transmission

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We develop a one‐step spray coating approach to coat the fluorinated graphene (FG) nanosheet onto the N95 respirators. The spray‐coated superhydrophobic N95 respirators can effectively repel respiratory droplets off instantaneously and prevent SARS‐CoV‐2 virus accumulation on the surface.

End-to-End-Based Tibetan Multitask Speech Recognition

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
To date, speech recognition technology for majority languages has been applied in wireless communication devices successfully. However, as a minority language, Tibetan has very limited resources for conventional automatic speech recognition.

Phonological similarity effects in Cantonese word recognition [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
Two lexical decision experiments in Cantonese are described in which the recognition of spoken target words as a function of phonological similarity to a preceding prime is investigated.

Laser Additive Manufacturing of Oxide‐Dispersion‐Strengthened Steels: A Simulation‐Based Comparison Between Powder Bed Fusion and Direct Energy Deposition

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Controlling the size and distribution of dispersoids is essential for optimizing the performance of oxide‐dispersion‐strengthened steels. This study focuses on nanoparticle dispersion and agglomeration during laser additive manufacturing of Fe20Cr alloy reinforced with ZrO 2 nanoparticles. Utilizing multiphysics phase‐field simulations and nanoparticle

Second‐language word recognition in noise: Interdependent neuromodulatory effects of semantic context and crosslinguistic interactions driven by word form similarity

open access: yesNeuroImage, 2021
Spoken language comprehension is a fundamental component of our cognitive skills. We are quite proficient at deciphering words from the auditory input despite the fact that the speech we hear is often masked by noise such as background babble originating

Minimizing word error rate in a dyslexic reading-oriented ASR engine using phoneme refinement and alternative pronunciation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Little attention has been given to detecting miscues in the text space read by dyslexic children over an automatic speech recognition (ASR) engine. In an ASR system, the miscues are represented by word error rate (WER) and miscue detection rate (MDR). At
