The role of character positional frequency on Chinese word learning during natural reading.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
Readers' eye movements were recorded to examine the role of character positional frequency on Chinese lexical acquisition during reading and its possible modulation by word spacing.

A Numerical–Experimental Approach for Multi‐Matrix Fiber‐Reinforced Plastics Characterization Using Finite Element Model Updating

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A numerical–experimental framework is developed for characterizing multi‐matrix fiber‐reinforced polymers (MM‐FRPs) combining epoxy and polyurethane matrices. Harmonic bending tests are integrated with finite element model updating (FEMU) to simultaneously identify elastic and viscoelastic material parameters.

Affecting the Properties of Copper–Graphene Electroconductive Composite by Severe Plastic Deformation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Copper‐based composites enhanced with carbon feature convenient mechanical properties and favorable electric conductivity. Processing via deformation and thermomechanical treatments can introduce advantageous microstructures further enhancing their performance. Herein, copper–graphene powder‐based composites are directly consolidated via rotary swaging

Modeling Human Performance on Statistical Word Segmentation Tasks

open access: yes, 2007
What mechanisms support the ability of human infants, adults, and other primates to identify words from fluent speech using distributional regularities? In order to better characterize this ability, we collected data from adults in an artificial language

Rapid gains in segmenting fluent speech when words match the rhythmic unit: evidence from infants acquiring syllable-timed languages

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2013
The ability to extract word-forms from sentential contexts represents an initial step in infants’ process towards lexical acquisition. By age 6 months the ability is just emerging and evidence of it is restricted to certain testing conditions.

Fostering Innovation: Streamlining Magnetocaloric Materials Research by Digitalization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetocaloric cooling (MCE) is an environmentally friendly refrigeration method with great potential. Optimizing MCE materials involves the preparation and screening of large quantities of samples, which in turn generates a large amount of data. A digitalization approach is presented that uses ontologies, knowledge graphs, and digital workflows to ...

Stress placement and word segmentation by Spanish speakers

open access: yes, 2013
Several studies have shown that the stress pattern of one's native language is applied to new linguistic stimuli. Regarding the segmentation of artificial synthesized speech, this idea has been supported by experiments with languages where the stress ...

Research on morphological knowledge-guided low-resource agglutinative languages-Chinese translation

open access: yesComplex & Intelligent Systems
Data sparsity and out-of-vocabulary are the main challenges in low-resource machine translation, and the impact of such problems in translation can be reduced through word segmentation.

Improved Word Segmentation System for Chinese Criminal Judgment Documents

open access: yesApplied Artificial Intelligence
In this paper, a system for automatic word segmentation of Chinese criminal judgment documents is proposed. The system uses a hybrid model composed of fine-tuned BERT (Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers), BiLSTM (Bidirectional Long ...

Multimodal Data‐Driven Microstructure Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A self‐consistent autonomous workflow for EBSP‐based microstructure segmentation by integrating PCA, GMM clustering, and cNMF with information‐theoretic parameter selection, requiring no user input. An optimal ROI size related to characteristic grain size is identified.
