Musicians and the Metric Structure of Words
Journal of Cognitive Neuroscience, 2011Abstract The present study aimed to examine the influence of musical expertise on the metric and semantic aspects of speech processing. The structure of single word and continuous word associations
Journal of Verbal Learning and Verbal Behavior, 1962Summary Twenty Ss were given the task of associating continuously to stimulus words drawn from the Russell-Jenkins list (1954) . The associations were categorized in accordance with a system developed by Laffal, 1960 , Laffal, 1961 . Responses to these same stimulus words obtained by Russell and Jenkins were similarly categorized.

Hairpin Structures in DNA Words
2006We formalize the notion of a DNA hairpin secondary structure, examining its mathematical properties. Two related secondary structures are also investigated, taking into the account imperfect bonds (bulges, mismatches) and multiple hairpins. We characterize maximal sets of hairpin-forming DNA sequences, as well as hairpin-free ones.
