A Conversational Assistant for Democratization of Data Visualization: A Comparative Study of Two Approaches of Interaction

open access: yesStatistical Analysis and Data Mining: An ASA Data Science Journal, Volume 17, Issue 6, December 2024.
ABSTRACT Data visualization is an important aspect of exploratory data analysis which requires expertise, posing a challenge to many users. In this work, we present a conversational system designed to make data visualization accessible, where users can generate visualizations of data by natural language conversational interaction with the system.

A comprehensive construction of deep neural network‐based encoder–decoder framework for automatic image captioning systems

open access: yesIET Image Processing, Volume 18, Issue 14, Page 4778-4798, 11 December 2024.
This article presents a comprehensive exploration into the realm of automatic image captioning systems, introducing an innovative deep neural network‐based encoder–decoder framework. The VGG‐19 model is employed as an image feature extractor, and the long short‐term memory network serves as a sequence processor, producing a fixed‐length output vector ...

A Linguistic–Sensorimotor Model of the Basic‐Level Advantage in Category Verification

open access: yesCognitive Science, Volume 48, Issue 12, December 2024.
Abstract People are generally more accurate at categorizing objects at the basic level (e.g., dog) than at more general, superordinate categories (e.g., animal). Recent research has suggested that this basic‐level advantage emerges from the linguistic‐distributional and sensorimotor relationship between a category concept and object concept, but the ...

Polish and English wordnets -- statistical analysis of interconnected networks [PDF]

open access: yesActa Phys. Pol. B Proc. Suppl. Vol. 7 (2014) 245-256, 2014
Wordnets are semantic networks containing nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs organized according to linguistic principles, by means of semantic relations. In this work, we adopt a complex network perspective to perform a comparative analysis of the English and Polish wordnets.

Extracting Synonyms from Bilingual Dictionaries [PDF]

open access: yesIn Proceedings of the11th International Global Wordnet Conference (GWC2021). (pp. 215-222). Global Wordnet Association. (2021), 2020
We present our progress in developing a novel algorithm to extract synonyms from bilingual dictionaries. Identification and usage of synonyms play a significant role in improving the performance of information access applications. The idea is to construct a translation graph from translation pairs, then to extract and consolidate cyclic paths to form ...

Dense Embeddings Preserving the Semantic Relationships in WordNet [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
In this paper, we provide a novel way to generate low dimensional vector embeddings for the noun and verb synsets in WordNet, where the hypernym-hyponym relationship is preserved in the embeddings. We call this embedding the Sense Spectrum (and Sense Spectra for embeddings).

Mapping wordnets from the perspective of inter-lingual equivalence

open access: yesCognitive Studies | Études cognitives, 2017
Mapping wordnets from the perspective of inter-lingual equivalence This paper explores inter-lingual equivalence from the perspective of linking two large lexico-semantic databases, namely the Princeton WordNet of English and the plWordnet (pl ...
