On the Evaluation of Korean WordNet

WordNet has become an important and useful resource for the natural language processing field. Recently, many countries have been developing their own WordNet. In this paper we show an evaluation of the Korean WordNet (U-WIN). The purpose of the work is to study how well the manually created lexical taxonomy U-WIN is built.

Extending and Updating the Finnish Wordnet

This paper presents simple methods for adding new words to a wordnet. We use the Finnish wordnet, FinnWordNet, as an example. We pay particular attention to high- and medium-frequency words thus far missing from FinnWordNet, and arrive at an estimate for the number of culture-specific words among them.

The English WordNet is a lexical database containing more than 206,900 word-concept pairs and more than 377,500 semantic and lexical links. Trying to visualize them all at once as a node-link diagram results in a representation which can be too big and complex for the user to grasp, and which cannot be easily processed by current web technologies.

The paper reports on a series of experiments conducted in order to test the feasibility of automatically generating synsets for Slovene wordnet. The resources used were the multilingual parallel corpus of George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four and wordnets for several languages.
