Identifying Cytokine Motif‐Containing, Immunomodulatory Bacterial Proteins in Human Gut Microbiome

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
By building and constructing HMM (Upper left, blue), the authors identify CMCPs in bacteria genomes and CRC related metagenomes and enriched CRC‐related CMCPs (Upper right, blue). They analyze sequence and structural similarity of hits (Lower left, green), test function with engineered EcN delivered to tumors in a mouse tumor model (Lower right, pink ...

The Impact of Attention-deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder Assessments on Predicting Occupational Foreign Body Penetration Injuries

open access: yesHaseki Tıp Bülteni
Aim: Our hypothesis was that individuals who suffer from penetrating foreign body injuries from work-related accidents are more likely to exhibit attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) symptoms than those without such a history.

Self‐Assisted Charge Storage‐Release Mechanism Enabling Flexible Design of Biomimetic Triboelectric Nanogenerators

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Inspired by the mimosa, this study develops a flexible triboelectric nanogenerator with a novel microneedle array and battery‐mimetic architecture. The device introduces a spontaneous charge self‐regulation mechanism that confines the electric field below the air breakdown threshold, and achieves an outstanding charge density of 396.50 µC m−2 ...

Work accidents during cable yarding operations in Central Europe 2006 – 2014

open access: yesForest Systems, 2017
Aim of study: This study is focused on detailed analysis of accidents in yarding during the years 2006–2014. There is still not enough information about such accidents in Central Europe in the literature available.

Glomage: A Multimodal Platform for High‐Content Morphological and RNA Profiling of Glomeruli in Zebrafish and Mouse Models

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Understanding how glomeruli, the kidney's filtration units, function in intact tissue remains challenging. Glomage enables rapid 3D imaging and quantitative analysis of entire glomeruli from zebrafish larvae and mice. This approach allows scalable cell quantification and detection of structural changes, advancing kidney disease research and ...

GUT-scale inflation with sizeable tensor modes

open access: yes, 2014
A sizeable tensor-to-scalar ratio, such as recently claimed by BICEP2, would imply a scale of inflation at the typical scale of supersymmetric grand unification. This could be an accident, or strong support for supersymmetric theories.

Scalable Laser Processing Enables Transparent, Accretion Scale‐Independent, Ice‐Shedding Glass

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We demonstrate a scalable laser‐based method to create wave‐like micro‐patterns on glass surfaces that counter the conventional view that roughness increases ice adhesion. These patterns direct crack propagation at the ice–glass interface, enabling low‐force, multi‐directional ice detachment while maintaining substrate transparency. A theoretical model

Not science as I know it [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
By accident I came across the curriculum document for Accelerated Christian Education (ACE), which provides teaching and learning materials to parents who are homeschooling their children.

Senomorphic Small Extracellular Vesicles Delivered by a Tissue‐Adhesive α‐Lipoic‐Acid Hydrogel Enable Immuno‐Rejuvenation for Bone‐Tendon Interface Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work identifies M1 macrophage‐mediated inflammation as a key driver of BMSC senescence and bone microstructural deterioration at the enthesis. A tissue‐adhesive hydrogel delivering senomorphic small extracellular vesicles suppresses this inflammatory‐senescent cascade and enhances BMSC resilience by inhibiting the cGAS‐STING‐NF‐κB pathway.
