Sustaining a Sense of Success: The Importance of Teacher Working Conditions During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Proceedings of the 2021 AERA Annual Meeting, 2021
COVID-19 shuttered schools across the United States, upending traditional approaches to education. We examine teachers’ experiences during emergency remote teaching in the spring of 2020 using responses to a working conditions survey from a sample of 7 ...

Understanding the bright side and the dark side of telework: An empirical analysis of working conditions and psychosomatic health complaints

New technology, work and employment, 2021
In the course of digitisation, work away from the principal office using information and communications technology (telework, telecommuting, and mobile work) has established itself in various segments of the labour market.

A deformable CNN-DLSTM based transfer learning method for fault diagnosis of rolling bearing under multiple working conditions

International Journal of Production Research, 2020
Machine learning methods are widely used for rolling bearing fault diagnosis. Most of them are based on a basic assumption that training and testing data are adequate and follow the same distribution.

Allostatic load and work conditions

Social Science & Medicine, 2003
Adverse work characteristics and poor social support have been associated with an increased risk for cardiovascular disease and other adverse health outcomes in otherwise apparently healthy adults. We undertook a cross-sectional study to evaluate the relationship between objective health status and work characteristics in industrial workers in Germany.

A New Deep Transfer Learning Method for Bearing Fault Diagnosis Under Different Working Conditions

IEEE Sensors Journal, 2020
Fault diagnosis is very important for condition based maintenance. Recently, deep learning models are introduced to learn hierarchical representations from raw data instead of using hand-crafted features, which exhibit excellent performance.

Working conditions and regulation

Labour Economics, 2017
Abstract Do employers invest sufficiently in the working conditions of employees? We examine this question in a simple principal-agent model. We show that, even though investment is contractible, the principal underinvests whenever her agent's alternatives are rather poor. This provides a reason for regulation.
