Determination of the working length of a strain gauge calibrating beam

Strain, 1971
Extended and strain–gauged calibrating beams, which can be displaced longitudinally in a four–point loading rig permit accurate determination of variations in gauge output with gauge position between supports. Results show that the working length of the calibrating beam may extend over the whole length of the span between the inner supports.

Comparison of working length determination with radiographs and two electronic apex locators

International Endodontic Journal, 2009
AbstractAim  To evaluate the accuracy of the Root ZX and Elements‐Diagnostic electronic apex locators when compared with radiographs for locating the canal terminus or minor foramen.Methodology  The canal terminus of 482 canals in 160 maxillary and mandibular teeth was located in vivo with both locators and radiographically.

[Determination of working length in general endodontic practice].

Fogorvosi szemle, 2007
Accurate determination of root canal length is essential for successful endodontic therapy. Two methods are generally accepted for working length measurements: radiographic length determination and by the means of electronic apex locators. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the working length determination habits of Hungarian dentists using a ...

Problem solving in endodontic working-length determination.

Compendium of continuing education in dentistry (Jamesburg, N.J. : 1995), 1996
The success of nonsurgical endodontic treatment is influenced significantly by accurate working-length determination. A variety of guidelines and techniques are available to clinicians in mastering working-length analysis with routine success achieved when multiple methods are used.

[Determination of working length in endodontics. 2. Endometric determination of canal length].

ZWR, 1991
Electronic determination of endodontic working length has become very popular in the past few years. Nevertheles it has shown that the use of electronic apex locators cannot replace radiographic length determination, but can be a useful additional device in endodontics. Indication, benefits and limits of electronic length determination are described in

[Problems with working length determination during endodontic therapy].

Fogorvosi szemle, 2006
Accurate working length (WL) determination is a crucial part of successful root canal therapy. Working length is the distance from the coronal reference plane to the apical constriction. The apical constriction, also referred to as cementodentinal junction, represents the transition between the pulpal and the periodontal tissues.

Endodontic working length determination--where does it end?

General dentistry, 2000
Obtaining a correct working length is critical to the success of endodontic therapy. Failure to identify this crucial measurement can result in untoward treatment outcomes, which may include increased patient discomfort, possible infection or cyst development, and extrusion or intra-canal medication into the periradicular tissue.
